It’s not the rhetoric. It’s that ICE is causing irreparable harm and acting with impunity and people can see that. When you act like fascists, people are going to treat you like fascists.

The Stazi meets the Keystone Cops

ICE abducted and imprisoned a family including two children and a mother with a high-risk pregnancy in a basement overnight with no beds and limited access to food and water. But ICE wants to you know that its stormtroopers are ‘real people’ with families. K. www.cbsnews.com/news/immigra...

I feel like this is easier to ignore in some places than others, but American citizens have been at war with “their” police forces for decades and I don’t know how to get people to understand that a lethal occupying force has never and will never keep us safe

We’re sure this is for a parade?

all these public officials insist they will resist the Trump admin adn that they don't support ICE...and then the police departments they supposedly control rush out to beat up anti ICE protestors.

might have been a bad idea for D cities to send astronomical funds and weaponry to a violent armed gang that hates them.

the people putting themselves on the line to run off these thugs truly are the best of us

what sucks about "Abundance" discourse is that the movement is a trojan horse - a way to smuggle bad ideas about tech, anti-labor, crypto etc into Dem politics by wrapping them inside normal and fine ideas about housing, green energy, transit etc.

this whole thread is worth reading, but, tldr:

Maybe America's space operations and national security shouldn't be entirely dependent on the mood swings of a single, weird rich guy. Just a thought.

it's cool that we live in a country too corrupt to ensure our primary voice communications networks are actually usable 🇺🇲🇺🇲😎

It continues to make me sad that Ro Khanna used VC and tech money to push Mike Honda out of Congress. Honda was a childhood Japanese internee who became a high school teacher, congressman, and staunch ally of labor and LGBTQ ppl. Khanna is … wooing a white supremacist anti-trans bigot for his money.

this!!!! it may be hard for some to accept that the government could be this cruel (especially when they've largely had positive interactions with law enforcement) but federal agents are, in fact, the one terrorizing immigrant communities right now.

Across the US, conferences and workshops are being cancelled, and professors are being asked to justify every work trip or coffee with a colleague, and yet universities have hundreds of thousands of dollars to spend on harassing their students?

just a reminder that the dem who ran this campaign unseated a 3x gop incumbent who had never won by less than double digits

I can't tell whether these people don't actually believe this shit and are defrauded investors, or do believe this shit and are the dumbest people alive. Either way, I think they should be fired

what if, instead and hear me out we abolished ICE entirely because at this point thats about as likely and would actually solve the problem

The temptation to always frame things as merely approaching but never actually crossing a red line has inured us to the reality that they are already defying court orders on a scale and as official policy to a degree unprecedented in American history.

the kids who are actually playing against trans athletes who aren't auditioning for a gig as a right wing grifter are way more mature than the adults crying about it

Pretty wild to make your entire case about how immigrants are lawless freeloaders, but having to go to their workplaces and court hearings to arrest them.

Someone else said something very similar to this the other day, but. It really burns me that our (millennials') generation was legally terrorized for like, downloading Radiohead discographies But we're supposed to be ok with billionaires stealing human intellectual output in its entirety bc AI

losing their primaries

Apparently now The New York Times agrees with Donald Trump that court orders are optional suggestions. "Should?"

leave aside the horendous failure of the american media to pick up on any of this: you, individually, can be black bagged and deported for saying in america what haaretz reports in israel

we need leaders who give a shit before it affects them personally. primary every dem

The lesson people infuriatingly never seem to master is that there is no creating a police state just for other people. If you create a police state with no due process for immigrants or accused criminals, then that's the system you've created for yourself.

MIT

Men do not need to put on a dress and go into a public restroom to abuse women and children. They usually just go home. Or wear a badge. Or put on a clerical collar, or just do it anywhere- wearing pants.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders was once politely asked to leave a restaurant and it generated 100x as much handwringing from the media as this will

while armed like they’re going after bin laden

if it takes years, has to be consequences for all these people, and even more for those who gave the orders.

don't do that to me

“What’s our target?” “Several dishwashers and a prep cook.” “Damn. We’re gonna need body armor, night vision scopes and stun grenades for this one.” “…wait…” “IF IT BLEEDS WE CAN KILL IT.”

I mostly stopped donating to campaigns since doing so generally leads to future text spam after my info gets shared to candidates I’ve never even heard of. I’ve donated to Kat though!

For 87 years, AEI has worked tirelessly and deliberately to engineer the political circumstances that would lead to this moment in U.S. history. And now that it’s here they want to pretend that they’re surprised and disappointed. It’s total bullshit. Take a victory lap, gents! You won!

Yes, you did vote to deport moms.

Musk should be asked about this in every interview he does now and forever. To ignore it is a dereliction of duty. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/o...

ICE disappears people while wearing masks and no identifying insignia. Some of their agents burst into the office of one of your colleagues this week and handcuffed one of his aides. "Let's go do a photo op with the Gestapo." The fuck is wrong with you?

this is not a "failure", or even an unintended consequence of bathroom policing, btw. anything that makes a trans life harder to live is a success for the people who make these laws

Trans people: we would like to participate in society. Anti-trans activists: trans people should not exist. Politico: both sides are extreme!

are you fucking kidding me

if you instead prefer selective enforcement by men with firearms who graduated high school in the bottom quartile of their class, i would ponder a bit on why
