Freud sees the world & he’s not happy

Doing the same this year only with Strawberry Hotel

Matmos, Scotch Rolex, The Utopia Strong, Regis, Dyslecta, Slav To The Rhythm, Milkweed, Haress, Michael, Oh Mr James, Sealionwoman, Rattle & Teleplasmiste for Acid Horse 25! William Doyle performs Total Strife Forever, Karl D'Silva + 2rana 3crana. thequietus.com/news/matmos-...

I’ve not stopped thinking about this film… the sort of performance that really should win awards.

Bought my ticket. This was amazing last year. Lovely venue, cool people & saw some of my fave gigs last year there.

Listening to @lowtheband.bsky.social talking on a podcast about the making of Things We Lost in the Fire really helped me cope with a crap bout of bed-ridden flu so thank you for that… listening to the album afterwards helped, too.

You’re not even the main character of your own life & that’s exactly how it ought to be.

You can’t have that #coffeewithmyyoungerself - that person isn’t you, your wisdom is bare luck & shaded by circumstance; you only think you remember THAT pain & have anyway repurposed it for your own ends; you are the worst possible critic of yourself.

“We were twats yesterday, we were different twats every year before that & we’ll be stranger twats tomorrow” as my Gran used to say. (I’m paraphrasing: sorry Gran)

Ill with flu & unable to read anything too taxing so picked up a couple of the #Flashman books as mindless ‘entertainment’ & amongst all the daft bluster & isms & ‘it’d never get published nowadays’ stuff it was interesting to find them a rare, quite coruscating, attack on British colonialism

Moon Beach Birds see moonlight reflected by cuttlefish bones & fly from the moon to nest on the beaches of Dorset. Constructed by small munkins in the storm.

Old Ones rising in the Eldritch breeze

Let Us Go Then, You & I is on again at 6pm GMT only on www.repeater-radio.com // radio for the wise, the foolish & the virginal. Expect strange pop, ambient, industrial clatter, acid horses, electronica, synth pop, classical leanings, psychedelic jazz & tripped-out post everything

And still the obsession with self-fulfilling questions beginning: “As a _________ working in a field dominated by ___________ how do you navigate the tricky________ ?” At least let’s have some different ones: “As a PARENT in a field dominated by PEOPLE WITH NO PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES…”

Love a lot of the #Radiophonic stuff, obv, & sure as hell the surviving members deserve a payday but a sample library seems utterly antithetical to the radiophonic spirit, doesn’t it ? https://scifibulletin.com/2025/02/19/the-radiophonic-workshop-archive-goes-online-video

Diptych: Cogden Beach / Liverpool

My favourite genre is people attempting to emulate vaguely ‘commercial’ electronica & getting it all wrong & ending up accidentally experimental

Found some of my old tapes of Chris Morris’s Blue Jam show… such a lot of weird fun, even if a lot of the music was the Moodswings / Olive (ahem) branch of ambient. I loved Jam on TV but there was something special about it as radio.

Met these guys again, still hanging out on that beach at Crosby. We only found a half dozen because it was pitch dark & cold as hell but we know there were more of them, waiting in the dark #sculpture #gormley

A heartbreaking Valentine’s song by Vera Sola, full of terrible yearning & broken dreams & gentle burrs & ambient twang & even some faint industrial clank. You’re welcome. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zYSndp4g5p0

Do we know the FIRST person to wear clothes / animal skins etc? - the rest of the tribe must have thought they were batshit.

Sharon van Etten’s version of Springsteen’s ‘Seventeen’ 🙃

We originally did I Feel Love as part of a 45 min interactive, multi-artist recreation at the wonderful Acid Horse festival, but we’ve subsequently added it to some of our live sets because it’s kind of addictive & we’re shameless crowd pleasers in our old age

A pre-Dawn drive with the audio book of Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher followed by Blixa’s lulling multi-tracked voice on Fiat Lux (& those Bavarian bees!) proved to be quite cinematic…

A piece of advisement art done by Guido Crepax. I wanna hang this on my wall.

Now playing this Magma adjacent wonder - 4 Visions by Eskaton. The actual track Eskaton is my fave, I think, in part because I first heard it last Summer when one of the DJs at our Repeater Radio shack played it. Guano in all the best, wailing French female vocals ways.
