There's some great stories and insight in this Guardian article with Jean Claude Vannier - a man who is so much more than who he has collaborated with. A great musical disruptor, so Alexis goes on to explain... www.theguardian.com/music/2025/f...

Highly intrigued to read this and watch the documentary. I often think to myself what would happen if Fugazi decided to come back. And if they did, I'd for sure but front row of the crowd. But I also believe that they can exist in a moment in time, and still be potent and vital today because of it.

Love to see Maud the moth in this round up of new sounds from the Scottish music scene, big thanks to Tallah for including @theskinnymag.bsky.social

Blank Mag strive to cover artists redefining composer culture - fittingly they speak to Einar Selvik: www.theblankmag.com/culture/ward... "In an industry often driven by trends and immediacy, their story is a powerful reminder of the value of patience, integrity, and staying true to one’s vision."

The @outofragenetwork.bsky.social review of Birna by Wardruna might be our favourite so far...writer Kiarash Golshani says "Not merely an album, but a truly transformative experience...Wardruna continues to go from triumph to triumph." www.outofrage.net/post/review-... Album out today!

2025 marks 25 years of @room40.bsky.social and Andrew Ryce has published a delightful deep-dive conversation with Lawrence English on his substack. Lawrence has interesting ideas and a really great approach to running an excellent label, I cannot wait to dig into it open.substack.com/pub/andrewry...

Joel McIver speaks to Dave Lombardo in the latest issue of Record Collector magazine recordcollectormag.com about Venamoris, the duo with his wife Paula, and also about pivotal musical moments in his life. An interesting read. @ipecac.com

This Wardruna interview between Einar and Dan Franklin @thequietus.com really gets to the heart of their philosophy and shows Einar's sense of humour. "Sometimes I pick up the goat horn, try to do some epic stuff, and end up sounding like a sick cow." Loved reading it thequietus.com/interviews/t...

Sumac and Moor Mother announce their debut collaborative album, The Film

The latest issue of @mojomagazine.bsky.social is out now - and huge thanks to writers Andrew Perry, Sylvie Simmons and @hutchie.bsky.social for their words about @room40.bsky.social Jean Claude Vannier and Wardruna respectively. www.mojo4music.com/magazine/lat...

With Fennesz touring, and now Tim Hecker releasing a new album, 2025 looks to be a top year for atmospheric music. Or can I actually say... hard ambient... is that a thing...?! Or fuzzy ambient... who knows! It's music I enjoy listening to, that works.

There's a new Tim Hecker album coming up @krankyltd.bsky.social in Feb and the label has shared two pieces from it, to relish in, including the visualiser below. There are prime Tim Hecker sounds all over this record, a fine reminder of his pioneering and idiosyncratic musical language.

There are a lot of our friends performing at this year's @ptgtoronto.bsky.social festival... *researches flights to Toronto*

"Despeñaperros is one of the cornerstones of The Distaff’s universe. A canyon and natural reserve with dramatic geology and very violent historical background, the Despeñaperros Pass is a gateway into the wilderness." Beautiful new video from Maud the moth & second taster of the new album (21st Feb)

Marthe, who released a fantastic album via Southern Lord in 2023, has shared this brilliant, candid interview with Queens of Steel (published in Spanish & English). Discussing punk ideology, empowerment, letting go, Italian horror, covering Siouxsie and more: www.queensofsteel.com/2004/01/mart...

Reviews are coming in thick and fast now as @thejesuslizard.bsky.social enter into the final days of their tour, and I'm still thinking about the London show on Saturday. Here's a review that articulated some of my feelings too:

Those who know me well, know that I adore Circle. Ever-prolific and ridiculously talented musicians, they make bold and strange music that (to me) sounds like no other, and have a wicked sense of humour. Here's their thoughts on the magic of sound at 15 Questions: 15questions.net/interview/ci...

I wrote a potted history about Rarely Unable PR for @sun13music.bsky.social and some words about music that got under my skin last year. It was a privilege to be asked by Simon, I absolutely love the website and his writing. sun-13.com/2024/12/31/2...
