Pritzker calls for mass protests and disruption - “Republicans cannot know a moment of peace,” he says, swaying their portraits will one day be put in museums “reserved for tyrants and traitors”

Booker: Do you think we got the right to vote for women because a bunch of men on the House floor got together and said “on the count of three, women get the right to vote..” That’s not how it happened… Change doesn’t come from Washington. It comes to Washington.

This is what happens when you put Republicans in charge of products and policy at Meta, because Republicans are child sexual abusers. Pedocon products.

If you wanna help a shelter dog in SoCal, my super cute, playful, smart foster dog Minnie is still available for adoption! Holler if you need a sweet pittie in your life 🐕💕 #DogSky www.adoptapet.com/pet/44138480...

Not a dime, not an inch of support for for any candidate who doesn’t start with “everyone who committed a crime during his administration will be prosecuted.” FWIW this is why I’d rather see AOC stay in Congress or the Senate because I want the Article I branch to become scary powerful again.

Gen X also very much not okay...

CNN reports that the oligarch is building a "master database to speed-up immigration enforcement and deportations by combining sensitive data from across the federal government" with the help of Palantir, to create "targeting lists". That all sounds very very bad. edition.cnn.com/2025/04/25/p...

Wild to live in the same age as perhaps THE most personally repellent person this nation has ever produced.

Child trafficked. They child trafficked 3 U.S. citizen children...

BREAKING: The ACLU says the Trump administration has deported three U.S. citizen children.

The United States of America is child trafficking.

"directs Attorney General Pam Bondi to launch an investigation into online fundraising platforms with the goal of cracking down on illegal “straw donors” and foreign contributions in US elections." Every accusation is a confession. www.cnn.com/2025/04/24/p...

Kinda insane and shows how afraid the networks are of upsetting this administration that a guy who killed 7 people and wounded 48 with “47” literally tattooed on his face has all but been forgotten like there’s still not a very serious threat emanating from every pore of this pathetic cult

Big props to @joshkovensky.bsky.social for calling the question: if 107 Venezuelans being held in CECOT already had final deportation orders from the US (on assumption they’d be sent to VZ), who exactly is dictating they be held there now? talkingpointsmemo.com/news/inside-...

This is fucking vile.

What they meant to write was "state sanctioned human trafficking"

I will say it again — DEI has always polled well and the idea that it's broadly upopular is wholly the invention of pundits nursing their own grievances and projecting them onto an imagined average American. Many such cases.

It’s not just biased—generative AI is importing old stereotypes into new languages and cultures. My latest for @wired.com: www.wired.com/story/ai-bia...

“Arbeit Macht Frei” This phrase was emblazoned at the gates of Nazi concentration camps. It translates to: “Work Will Make You Free”

"Some officials say U.S. citizens who criticize administration policies could be charged with crimes" I always wondered how mainstream journalism would cover an impending dictatorship here. Now we know.

Has anyone ever said "My rights are a distraction?" It's always someone else's rights, right?

Children as young as *four* are being put in the position of representing themselves without lawyers/parents present in front of immigration judges in cases that will determine whether they are deported. gothamist.com/news/4-year-...

When I left the Washington Post in 2023, my colleagues and I were worried AI would hoover up our work and enable "zombies" to churn out stories based on our reporting and writing styles. Today WaPo announced a partnership with OpenAI. And here it is: Zombie Gillian Brockell. I DID NOT WRITE THIS.

I feel like we need to keep saying this because it’s so insane: This is a legal U.S. resident who has been detained for over a month now for his political opinions.

For those puzzled why the strong box office opening of SINNERS is being framed as disappointing somehow, Vulture gave the game away two days ago. Studios are freaking out about letting the copyright revert to Coogler, so the film can't be seen as a success. The fix is in.

For the first time, a super granular look from us at Split Ticket on how Democrats won Wisconsin in 2025. The story of this election is turnout. 2024 was Trump +1. But if that election was repeated among 2025 voters? Harris +7. split-ticket.org/2025/04/21/h...

it's important this go as viral as the original story for morale purposes if nothing else. despite the image they project these people are NOT unaccountable. consequences CAN be forced. focused anger and outrage MATTERS.

NEW from me: Some U.S. citizens have already been caught up in Trump's immigration dragnet. More will be. A side note: more reports of citizens detained by immigration officials emerged even as we prepped this story for publication. For @propublica.org www.propublica.org/article/more...

the moment Harrison Ford learned the force was real (volume up 🔊)

This is, weirdly, the most purely fascist shit anyone in the administration has said so far - Your health is an asset of the fatherland - Illness is a failure or a moral failing - You have a duty to maintain your health - Healthcare is not a right, it's a finite resource - Die for the fatherland

i don't love matty but he's not wrong here

So today: - Trump says he’s “just giving you what they handed me” about Abrego Garcia. - We learn Trump didn’t know Musk picked the IRS head. - It’s reported that they didn’t mean to go to war with Harvard. Perhaps staffing a White House with unqualified loyalists isn’t a great approach.

THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T CAVE TO THIS EMPEROR. He has no clothes. He's a wimpy old man who will whimper away scared when you push back.

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

The violation of Fourth (privacy) and First (free speech/association) and Fourteenth Amendment (due process/equal protection) rights is beyond comprehension. A catastrophe for our country and for freedom and liberty.

fighting tears

Van Hollen: "This case is not only about one man, as important as that is. It is about protecting fundamental freedoms and the fundamental principle in the Constitution for due process that protects everyone who resides in America."

DOGE's latest efficiency is halting $500 million in food deliveries to the nation's food banks. www.cnn.com/2025/03/22/p...

This is what it comes down to in terms of how we actually function in society: not “what is a woman?”, but “how do you know I’m a woman?” Nobody has ever asked to inspect my gametes or chromosomes. Presentation is literally all anyone is going on.

The CFPB is one of those things where like, virtually every single person in the United States would support its existence if they were told the truth about what it is/does. Or used to do, I guess.

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

Nasty work. www.vanityfair.com/news/story/m...

Same with elected officials! Money is going to Team Fight not Team Decorum

I think what’s most striking about the last few months is how rarely anyone in the GOP applies this simple test. A lot of checks and balances rely on this kind of worrying about precedent but it’s now totally absent, as if they don’t think they’ll ever be out of power again.

This case is confusing as fuck. This article was a hair easier to understand... newrepublic.com/post/194119/...

Oh. "This is about whether we have functional constitutional government in this country. If the IRS can go after you because of what you think or what you believe or what you do, we'd no longer live in a free country.“
