My congresswoman @robinkelly.house.gov is doing a telephone town hall meeting right now, and it just went up from 8,000 people listening to 11,000 people listening in the space of a single Q&A (2% of the district's population!). People ARE active & paying attention. Don't fear you're alone.

Well in reference to my last I now have some openings for work again!

Underscoring one of President Biden’s key environmental efforts, the EPA has just banned trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene, both commonly found in consumer products and are known carcinogens as well as persistent environmental pollutants. https://buff.ly/3DX7L6x #ShareGoodNewsToo

In 1841 #Berlin's city border measured exactly 20,090 steps. We know this thanks to the indefatigable Dr Hermann Wollheim who took it upon himself to circumnavigate the city on foot before writing his endlessly fascinating "Attempt at Medical & Statistical Topography of Berlin".

Not really his style, alas, but sometimes I wish he could unmoor himself from this block of granite & walk around DC stepping on the folks that deserve it the most

Rats are neat

Well, I've seen 'Napoleon' and here's my review. It's going to be a long one full of complaining about details and of course with tons of spoilers. You've been warned. 🧵

#Portfolioday Hello, I'm an Ink & Pen artist who is self taught, I've been working with art for around 3 years, but drawing since my childhood. Fun fact what made me want to draw was the scene in the first Spider man movie, which Peter draws his suit.

West Berlin, August 1960. Previously unpublished. I post photographs taken on my many Berlin visits in the 1950s and 1960s. 180 historic street images of East and West Berlin are in my book "Berlin in the Cold War" (Amberley Publishing). #Berlin

Anyway if you like this kind of stuff you can support it by subscribing to my Patreon. Occasionally I post sketches and a bit of the process for the higher tiers. A pretty relaxed affair patreon.com/gorangligovic

#OTD 1874 Berlin's famous Königlich Preußische Eisengießerei (Royal Prussian Iron Foundry) in Invalidenstr. 92 (now 43) closed down after 70 years of service. In that time it produced not only Prussian Iron Cross orders (intr. 1813 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III) & weights, chains & bridges🧵 (1)

A few of the details and views from Burton Place.

Lovely drawing by the great Heinrich Zille of a poor family getting ready for Christmas in Germany, early 1920s. Only one room, beds in the corner, clothes drying on a line, warming oranges on the stove, cat with a bow-tie, baby sitting on chair with built-in chamber pot, lovely.

Frogs & Gnomes. #pixelart Secret Santa piece for Pixeljoint member ZedOFF who wished for, among other things, frogs and gnomes! Happy Holidays!

Don't think there is a better illustration of AI-in-everything-whether-we-want-it-or-not than an AI bro buying an AI toy for his child who played with it for a bit and then seemed singularly unimpressed with the AI and turned it off. He keeps turning it back on, and she keeps turning it off.

I want to add...it's actually better to repost rather than liking something. That way people who follow you see it, which is really important when there is no algorithm.

The cuddliest ancient and unholy horror haunting the ruins of a long gone civilisation, the Teddypede. www.inprnt.com/gallery/gpra...

In 1868 young civil engineer & keen photographer, Albrecht Meydenbauer, took this photo of central #Berlin: with a maze of narrow streets on both sides of a wider thoroughfare, an old canal cutting through the dense city and church spires growing in the sea of buildings.

Hi there, I am an illustrator with a focus on late medieval costume. I try to breathe some life into centuries old armours and dresses that once gracefully moved. If you want to explore what I do a bit more, start here: eol-art.fr/portfolio/Eo... (warning highres image may go heavy on your device)

#OTD 1931 at 5PM 1st film adaptation of Erich Kästner's "Emil & die Detektive", took place in #Berlin's UFA-Theater am Kudamm 26. As 1 of 1st non-silent films for kids, it also used some revolutionary filming techniques, later said to have been copied by Hitchcock (drugged-candy scene on the train).
