If you're not sick of me banging on about it already... New album out now on @fesynthetics.bsky.social First new material from Decal in 18 years. frontendsynthetics.bandcamp.com/album/the-ec...

Drones are a new sight in the skies of Dublin 15 - and potentially soon for the rest of the city. We need to address people's valid concerns about planning, safety, privacy and noise though - watch more about this here ⬇️

Twenty-one years ago today the @europeangreens.eu were founded in Rome. We’ve had our ups and downs, but we’re still going strong. From @greenpartyie.bsky.social, thank you Trevor Sargent, Mary White, Chris O’Leary, Heidi Bedell, Nuala Ahern, Steve Rawson, and all who took part in our journey.

Action-packed five-a-side between Irish @YoungGreens.ie and Irish less Young Greens today. Older crew romped home with the trophy.

Great fun today, well done to the Young Greens for organising. And arranging the weather too!

Today marks three years since the brutal full scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia. We also wish to acknowledge the countless years of intimidation suffered by the people of Ukraine and the occupation of Crimea which will have it’s 11 year anniversary on 27th of February.

We discussed drones very briefly this week at the council Economic Development committee. SmartDublin are working on draft regulations which will go out to public consultation in the coming months.

@rodericogorman.bsky.social highlights the immense potential that AI can bring to people and society, but it does not come without significant risks. We are proud of the work of the Greens/EFA in the European Parliament to ensure safeguards are enshrined in the AI Act. youtu.be/IxcSrzs72wo

The focus on predator reintroduction needs to switch from the animals to the communities which would be expected to live alongside them. Jonny Hansen, who spoke to me for this piece, has written a very good book on this issue... www.irishtimes.com/science/2025...

Tomorrow is Care Day, a day to celebrate and appreciate the immeasurable work of carers. Thanks to the wonderful folks at EPIC for their briefing this morning.

Our hedgerows are vital sources of food, nesting and shelter for wildlife, vital for ecosystem services and culturally too. Today with Kilkenny LEADER Partnership, we launched 'Know your hedgerow' a project on raising awareness of the need to restore and care for our hedgerows.

We tolerate this, as an acceptable price of motordom. Put up speed cameras, and drivers will cut them down. Find someone guilty of dangerous driving, and a judge will let them walk free. Take away someone's licence and they'll be given it back. www.bbc.com/news/article...

The voices of civil society are needed more than ever in Israel. Attempts by Netanyahu to silence human rights organisations must be rejected. europeangreens.eu/news/israeli...

First time using the new section of the Liffey Cycle Route. DCC made huge improvements to the narrow broken footpath beside the Liffey as part of this too. This is what continued investment in active travel gets you.

Cork council tenants who had home retrofits saw energy bills plummet, new figures show One property saw annual bill fall from €6,680 to €1,230, Cork County Council survey found

Awesome to see George’s Quay to O’Connell Bridge protected two-way lanes OPEN this morning! 😍🌟 Fair play to the @dublincitycouncil.bsky.social Active Travel team and @nationaltransportauthority Another step forward for the City Centre

Dublin city centre is crying out for investment. I'll be speaking to Claire Byrne on RTÉ Radio 1 at 10:15 on why a hotel bed levy is a good way to raise some funds to improve our city. Most European countries have them, with local councils setting the rates: why not here?

An honour to meet a joint Palestinian and Israeli peace delegation from Jerusalem. Thank you Dr. Yudith Oppenheimer of ir-amim.org.il/en, Shaques Morag of ThePlatformil.org and Fakhri Abu Diab of Al Bustan. A two-state solution is the only way forward. 1of2

Whatever one's position on the need for LNG can we all agree that it's super expensive and can't really happen without massive State subsidy? The fact that it evaporates quickly and can't be stored for long periods (unlike oil or coal) counts against it too. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

Your Dublin, Your Voice is an opinion panel, running quarterly surveys on things like the Nighttime Economy, Active Travel, your experience with Dublin retail and hospitality etc. You can join the panel here - www.dublincity.ie/business/eco...

I've just signed this petition to keep the passenger cap at Dublin Airport to protect our climate and our children's futures. Will you sign too? my.uplift.ie/petitions/ke...

The Taoiseach talking up of LNG now is at best misguided and at worst a sign of rushed, political manoeuvring that will serve to undermine Ireland’s climate and energy security. #StopLNG www.friendsoftheearth.ie/press/taoise...

We spent 5 years blocking this. No-one else cared enough to do the same this time.

An introductory blog on rewilding and why now is the time #rewilding www.rewildyourland.ie/post/why-rew...

Have you ever dreamed of scoring a screamer past a Green TD? ⚽ Now's your chance!! ⚽ Óige Ghlas is hosting a Five-A-Side Football match vs. some councillors, former TDs, and others from the party ranks to fundraise for the Young Green coffers!

Launching! 🚀 Today I'm launching a new service for landowners in Ireland who want to rewild their land. I hope this will be the start of a network that will promote rewilding in this country - the time is right! New social 🙋‍♂️ @rewildyourland.bsky.social take a look 👇 www.rewildyourland.ie

Some headlines to raise the blood pressure this morning. (and though the second headline says "gas storage" they really mean LNG import infrastructure)

Before every election there is always a narrative that we don’t need @greenpartyie.bsky.social because all parties now support the ‘green agenda’. But, of course, once gone you see what happens

Welcome to Rewild! If you have land in Ireland and you want to rewild it but are not sure how, this is the site for you! www.rewildyourland.ie

#Bologna, one of my favourite Italian cities, introduced a 30km/h speed limit over a year ago, and since then there have been ZERO pedestrian deaths (for the first time since 1991), with overall road deaths down by 50% 👏 #BolognaCitta30 ✅ www.comune.bologna.it/notizie/citt...

Happy Valentines Day from all of us at Óige Ghlas. We hope you love these green-inspired card designs as much as we do! We also sent some cards out to our wonderful public reps to let them know how much we love and appreciate them 💖

Notwithstanding the importance of the story, the blow by blow account of the cabinet meeting here is fairly wild. It's a criminal offence to leak from cabinet. www.irishtimes.com/politics/202...

Where's the long-awaited LGBTQ strategy from Sinn Fein? Where's the hate crime review from the Alliance party? Two executive parties that are happy to pose for photo ops at pride marches, but when it comes to delivery.. nothing No pride in betrayal! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

A moratorium on new reading schools and reading classes is unacceptable, and must be addressed by the Department of Education. I've raised this issue in the Dáil this week and await a formal response from the new Minister for Education #dyslexia #education #ireland #edchatie

🌈 "No Pride in Betrayal" 🌈 GPNI Leader Mal O’Hara calls on Pride orgs to ban Executive Parties: “For 20 years, they’ve promised an LGBTQ+ strategy but delivered nothing. NI still has no funded strategy, hate crimes rise & puberty blockers banned without consultation.” youtube.com/shorts/BzjzC...

Clean energy or racehorses, there can be only one winner... www.irishtimes.com/business/202...

A court that tries individuals for genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and aggression? It is telling that Italy’s Meloni, Hungary’s Orbán and Czechia’s Fiala have refrained from criticising Trumps actions undermining the International Criminal Court.

This ancient, wild oak in my place is about 12m from the edge of a road. It has stood there for 100s of years, supporting a whole web of life, bothering nobody. Now they're talking about removing it and countless others, because in Ireland (1% native forest left), nature ALWAYS has to pay.

The Newborn Baby Grant will be paid today to over 4,400 families, a direct €280 baby boost payment to help with the costs of parenthood. This is a key Green Party initiative that @rodericogorman.bsky.social fought for inclusion in Budget 2025. www.thejournal.ie/over-4400-fa... #GreensDeliver

The arrival of a new baby is the most joyous moment for families, but it also means plenty of new costs. I’m pleased to have fought to get the €280 Baby Boost payment included in Budget 2025 - a key Green Party initiative benefitting families directly www.thejournal.ie/over-4400-fa...

A positive action you could take, if it’s possible for you to donate blood: Irish blood banks are critically low. Why not check out www.giveblood.ie to see if you’re eligible or make your appointment at clinics around the country? The paperwork is the longest part and it only hurts for a sec

I recently chatted to @valerieflynn.bsky.social in the journal.ie about the future of Dublin Bikes. The scheme has been hugely successful for the city but it's time to start examining and building for its next chapter. www.thejournal.ie/dublin-adver...

On Newstalk earlier to talk on 1/3 -Trump's ethnic cleansing of Palestinians -Taoiseach's mistake for not using the Seanad to actually back diversity. -Why we need Climate Resilience Fund especially post Éowyn! #politics #gaza #palestine🇵🇸 #trump #diversity #inclusion #equality #Equity #climate

In case any of you are actually up this early on a Saturday. Myself, Peter Leonard and @antonsavage.bsky.social will be having the chats about all things current affairs from 9.15am on @newstalkfm.bsky.social I'm sure waking up to my voice is exactly what some of you want this morning!

Wow, AI takes a really high dive into an enormous vat of treacle, doesn't it? m.imdb.com/title/tt0212...

This weekend is historic: Lithuania, Latvia & Estonia will fully disconnect from Russia‘s power system and join the main European grid, fit to integrate more renewable energy. Its not just a technical upgrade – it’s a gateway to the West & breaking free from Russia’s control.
