Mandatory voting is a best practice democratic institution that enables representative democracy to work as best it can. When everyone votes, representatives have to worry about everyone's interests or risk being voted out. When only some vote, those who don't are vulnerable to exploitation.

This is real

Mike Waltz has left the chat.

Pete Hegseth shows real leadership by passing the blame to Mike Waltz. Was it Waltz who set up Signal on Hegseth's office computer and added his wife, brother, and lawyer in a war plan group chat?

This is a bad vision, and I think regulation is appropriate here. AI should not pretend it's your friend until we know much more about the psychological implications of that.

He’s talking about deporting US children with brain cancer.

Why is it up to @rollingstone.com to write the most honest and direct headlines? www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

My great grandfather, a farmer, was one of these Germans in the early 30’s. So much so that he often loudly made fun of the Nazis at his local tavern. Then the Gestapo came to the house and took his two sons at age 7 and 10. He never saw his older son—my grandfather—again.

Just incredible

This is what Trump’s reckless tariffs are about. Trump and Musk make you pay $4,000 more a year so that corporations and foreign countries will bribe them for exceptions. It’s the same story over and over: they get rich. You get screwed.

100 DAYS...of lying, grifting, lawbreaking, division, incompetence, ignorance, illegal deportations, self-aggrandizement, vulgarity, self-pity, cruelty, ignoring the Supreme Court & due process while attacking: the Media, Universities, Law Firms, the Courts & Journalists. 1362 Days to go...

The media uses the possibility his brain is mush to avoid calling him a liar and the fact that he’s a liar to avoid saying his brain is mush. The effect is that they write up neither of the 2 possibilities, dramatically helping Trump.

yeah i am pretty much on the side of primary everyone

I knew he would do this. I wrote a whole article about how he would do this. I am not surprised he’s undermining vaccination. I know he’s an anti-vaxxer & a predatory crank. And yet…you have got to be fucking kidding me. He’s promoting infant mortality.

Jesus Christ

Everything Lutnick said is nonsense.

Trump called Jeff Bezos to complain about an Amazon plan to display the costs resulting from tariffs, and then Amazon said that idea is "not going to happen." www.cnbc.com/2025/04/29/w...

The Trump Administration seems motivated solely by white supremacy.

NEW: State offices in Mississippi are closed to commemorate the men who died fighting the U.S. government to protect the institution of human slavery. The majority white Legislature once again killed a Black lawmakers' bill to end Confederate Memorial Day and replace it with Juneteenth Freedom Day.

Oppression is the mask of fear.

The driveway of the White House is now lined with mugshots….disgusting….this had to be a Stephen Miller idea *posted this morning by Trump’s press secretary Karoline Leavitt

Bessent in two weeks, finding out about just in time ordering:

This is an *active* current example of democrats helping to pass a law that will actively hurt people fighting civil rights and civil liberties in our current crisis moment. Either help the movement, get out of the way, or admit what side you’re on.

...Why?

Pritzker calls for mass protests and disruption - “Republicans cannot know a moment of peace,” he says, swaying their portraits will one day be put in museums “reserved for tyrants and traitors”

This is, straightforwardly, an effort to curry favor with a tyrant

At some point, human beings will become our primary export, and El Salvador our primary trade partner.

A ten-year-old U.S. citizen child recovering from brain cancer deported to Mexico with undocumented parents a TEN YEAR OLD. a TEN YEAR OLD child recovering from brain cancer deported. Your government did this www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/...

The default Dem position should be that nothing under Trump is valid. Trump didn't honor his predecessors' agreements. He didn't even honor his own trade agreements. He didn't honor Congressional appropriations. He doesn't follow laws. Clean slate. If you rely on him, your loss.

Three U.S. citizens, ages 2, 4 and 7, swiftly deported from Louisiana www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...

While the world paid tribute to the Pope in black attire, Trump opted for his tacky ill fitted blue suit and floor length tie.

what are they hiding? (car crashes)

Trump has deported a four-year-old US citizen with a rare form of metastatic cancer without medication or consultation with their doctor.

If you’re attending the White House Correspondents Association dinner tonight, be sure to come prepared with a joke about the toddler cancer patient they just disappeared despite her being a citizen. Otherwise it’s going to be awkward when you’re mugging for photos with Stephen Miller.

denial is a good strategy for dealing with problems, right?

A useful way to think about his tanking poll numbers is that they would be far worse if more people knew what he is doing

For those who think Elon Musk just “turned” bad a few years ago: In 2014, Musk threatened an entire team at Tesla with deportation when their leader asked him to address a brake safety issue with the Model S. She was forced to resign.

In Minnesota, freedom is a birthright.

crazy that an incorrigible drunken dipshit who has failed at everything of consequence he has ever tried is also disastrously bad at leading the single largest bureaucracy in the world

Yes, especially when they reveal the huge budget cuts they are working on, to pay for a tax cut for the rich. That will be horribly unpopular -- the cuts to Medicaid, especially. People may forget that to date the Congress has passed very little legislation. Wait until they do, if they can.

Man’s brain is applesauce, but it remains an interesting dynamic that his gut reaction is of course I don’t violate court orders, meanwhile he has no comprehension of how his people are gleefully doing exactly that and bragging about it.

oh it’s not just in Milwaukee.
