This was our onscreen credit at the beginning of Road to Perdition. The producers had originally wanted to hide us away among the end credits but our agent fought to get us proper full-name recognition. It helped that director, Sam Mendes insisted that the source material be given proper respect.

Latest update. The Witch’s House continues to take shape.

The Witch’s House. A selection of pages. More to come.

I’m at the drawing board for 6 o’clock every morning (including Christmas Day) to give my very best to this book. ‘The Witch’s House,’ page 22.

Sunrise. Just an hour ago.

Ideal viewing for a winter Sunday afternoon.

My thanks to John Freeman for publicising my recent contribution to the Monday Morning Critic podcast. downthetubes.net/richard-pier...

The Monday Morning critic podcast took the brave step of inviting me as a guest last week. If you can put up with 37 minutes of this old codger waffling on, here you go… youtu.be/QGwwTgz2Pho?...

Happy New Year. 2025. Right, let’s get on with it!

From my drawing board to the wider world…A Very Happy Christmas to everyone and a joyful New Year!

A commission from 2022. Neil Gaiman’s Sandman.

Another Doctor Who commission: ‘The Unmet Friend.’

Doctor Who. A commission if a slightly more recent vintage. This one is from last year.

Doctor Who: ‘Of course we’re not lost.’ A commission from not so long ago.

The Witch’s House. Coming soon. More details as I find them out.

A year or two ago this commission meant a brief return to Road to Perdition.

Another commission from a few years ago and the only occasion on which Judge Dredd has emerged from my drawing board.

A couple of commissions that were re-creations of historic DC Comics covers.

John Constantine. After all this time he remains my most requested commission piece.

My very first John Constantine illustration from 1988 that announced my imminent arrival on the Hellblazer title and my most recent, a private commission, from last year.

Another John Constantine commission from a few years ago. ‘Remember Newcastle.’

A commission from a few years ago. That irredeemable reprobate, John Constantine.

A further glimpse of The Witch’s House. Progress continues!

The Witch’s House, page 4. ‘You honour me, madam. I have brought you your story.’ Expect more and regular updates as I remain chained to the drawing board.

I’ll continue to post pages from The Witch’s House and update publishing details as they become known.

More from ‘The Witch’s House.’ No publishing details yet but I’ll update when I have them. I’ll post pages as progress continues.

These vintage pages are at least 50 years old. My working method was to scribble everything roughly in biro & then trace in pencil, gradually achieving a finished image. It’s primitive, derivative work but all part of the process whereby I was training myself to achieve a professional standard.

Progress continues on ‘The Witch’s House.’ Expect regular updates.

It’s over 40, possibly nearer 50, years ago, that I was commissioned to illustrate a book about the Ghosts of North Yorkshire. I don’t know if that book ever saw the light of day and all this time later, this pencil drawing is all that remains.

Work continues on the Witch’s House. I’ll post regular updates.

The Witch’s House, page 19. ‘You see…he’s quite friendly…’
