In just 130 days, Elon... -Secured even more contracts -Derailed at least 40 fed investigations of his corporations -Gutted agencies that regulate his business -Installed loyalists throughout the government Elon has fallen out with Trump, but he got exactly what he wanted.

A billionaire who profits off the presidency is feuding with another billionaire who bought access to the government to line his own pockets. Neither should have ever been able to amass so much power. What we're witnessing is a failed experiment in billionaire governance.

Trump's proposed data-sharing deal with Palantir would be an appalling attack on our privacy. It goes hand-in-hand with his attacks on habeas corpus. Liberals and conservatives should agree on this: we don't want mass surveillance or erosions of our civil liberties.

🚨NEW: @cbsnews.com reports ICE is arresting people who can't even legally be deported and holding them without enough food or water in a federal building BASEMENT in Los Angeles. Families dutifully attending check-ins with ICE are being arrested and held for days, forced to sleep on the floor.

There’s another scandal buried in the Trump-Republican budget plan that’s not getting enough attention: massive giveaways to Big Oil.

Republicans are on the verge of passing a budget bill that would amount to one of the greatest transfers of wealth from the working poor to the super rich. And two billionaire oligarchs are fighting about it because the bill doesn't cut vital social programs enough. Hello?

Trump's culture wars and public spats with his former billionaire buddy provide cover for the most corrupt and self-dealing presidential administration in American history.

In just a few months Trump and Musk destroyed institutions and programs that had been built over decades or more. Now, they’re turning their rage on each other. How much damage will they do to the world as they destroy each other? https://robertreich.substack.com/p/sunday-thought-ab9

That any of us have to care about the messy breakup of these two massive narcissists — and that they both individually wield such massive power — is an indictment of our political system and further proves the poisonous influence of Big Money on our democracy.

Trump is losing in the courts. He's fighting publicly with Musk. His “big beautiful bill” has stalled. Trump is now left only with his vindictive rage. And of course his money-making schemes to line his pockets. He's likely to become even more unhinged — be warned.

As Trump and Musk attack each other, don't forget: their ongoing DOGE cuts have made your life worse. It doesn't matter who wins the Trump-Musk feud. Thanks to them, millions of Americans have already lost crucial public services. youtu.be/M5LD2CSOzmI?...

The craziest thing about this fight between Trump and Elon Musk is that Republicans are trying to take away health care from 16 million people to pay for tax cuts for billionaires.

Look beyond Trump and Musk's public blowout to the bigger problem: the infiltration of Big Money in our politics. It has corrupted our democracy — creating a vicious cycle that funnels more wealth and power to those at the top while drowning out the needs of regular Americans.

History teaches us that alliances between oligarchs and fascists, while initially beneficial to each other, usually don't end well.

Citizens United is among the worst decisions in Supreme Court history. It's allowed billionaires to completely take over our politics and destroy our democracy. There are days when we are reminded just how pernicious that ruling was. Today is one of those days.

The Constitution guarantees due process to ALL persons — not just citizens — and enshrines habeas corpus as a fundamental right. Either everyone has due process — or no one does. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/04/us/politics/trump-deportations-venezuela-alien-enemies-act.html

The latest Republican defense of devastating cuts to Medicaid, courtesy of Dr. Oz. (Hello?)  https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/5334508-dr-oz-medicaid-cuts-work-requirements/

Remember: If unions didn’t matter, powerful corporations wouldn’t spend millions of dollars every year to stop workers from organizing. Keep up the fight.

A "significant share" of companies surveyed by the Federal Reserve said they raised the prices of goods and services unaffected by tariffs. One company said they did this to "enjoy the extra margin before tariffs increased their costs." See the problem here? www.axios.com/2025/06/04/t...

While America’s front doors are closing to China, back doors are opening in the form of personal payoffs to Trump that result in alternative routes for America’s advanced technology to reach China. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/while-americas-front-doors-are-closing

As LBJ said 60 years ago, freedom is not just opening the gates of opportunity. True freedom is ensuring everyone has the ability to walk through them.

A recent study found that for every $1 invested in the National Weather Service, it produces $73 in value to Americans. Not only is the NWS a life-saving government resource, it's actually quite efficient.

The Medicaid cuts proposed by the GOP are awful on their own. But they could also reduce economic activity — resulting in a loss of 850,000 jobs across the country in both the healthcare industry and beyond. All for tax cuts that will mostly benefit the richest Americans.

For years we've heard from the right about "welfare queens" and other so-called "freeloaders" pulling one over on the government. But actually, it's the wealthy who are the real freeloaders — pulling one over on us all by skirting their taxes. Where is the outrage over that?

Trump's tariffs, tax cuts, and austerity budget are a windfall for the super-rich at the expense of the poor. This is what class warfare looks like. [Via @4taxfairness.bsky.social‬]

“Carey’s nomination as NLRB general counsel is certainly another example of Trump’s attacks on workers and the right to organize,” said @epi.org senior policy analyst Margaret Poydock. Some of Crystal Carey's clients: Amazon, Trader Joe’s, and Apple.

The CBO estimates that Trump's Big Ugly Bill, which is stuffed with tax cuts skewed to the wealthy, will explode the deficit by $2.4T and kick 10.9M people off their health insurance. This has always been the GOP strategy: socialism for the rich, harsh capitalism for the rest.

For decades, Republicans in Washington have told us that tax cuts would trickle down to workers. Instead, wealth and power has accumulated in the hands of the richest 1% at the expense of the rest of us. Trickle-down economics was always a hoax.

The Three Huge Lies Trump is Telling Republican Senators about his Medicaid Cuts — to finance a big tax cut mostly for the wealthy https://robertreich.substack.com/p/the-three-huge-lies-trump-is-telling

It's been over 20 years since this clip from Michael Moore's 'Fahrenheit 9/11,' and members of Congress still aren't reading bills before voting for them.

Dozens of companies who sponsored Pride marches last year have pulled out this year, including: Dyson Nivea Tiffany & Co. Capital One UPS Disney DoorDash Live Nation Nissan Citi Corporate Pride was always a hoax. https://popular.info/p/pride-and-prejudice-in-corporate

The House budget bill would kick 15 million people off health insurance, according to @centeronbudget.bsky.social But the damage won’t stop there—weaker local economies that rely on health spending could lose 850,000 jobs b/c of Medicaid cuts: www.epi.org/blog/house-b...

Trump and his enablers have no problem with welfare for corporations and the rich. But when it comes to vital programs that help millions, they're suddenly concerned about the deficit. Don't be fooled. They believe in socialism for the rich, harsh capitalism for everyone else.

Thanks to DOGE: -NASA employees need multiple rounds of emails to buy basic materials -FDA food tests are delayed over approval for simple expenses -FAA staffers can't easily pay for air traffic control tower window washing DOGE is making government LESS efficient.

Reminder that Trump was ordered by the Supreme Court to facilitate the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the United States. That was nearly two months ago. If Trump can violate due process and openly defy a SCOTUS order, what’s to stop him from doing the same to anyone else?

Trump's Big Bill: -Expands his power to ignore court rulings -Gives the ultra-wealthy an even bigger estate tax break -Disqualifies nearly 2M children from the child tax credit -Adds unnecessary red tape that would kick millions of people off Medicaid It's a big, ugly mess.

Corporate profits have hit record highs. CEOs are paid 290x as much as a typical worker. We're subsidizing huge corporations that pay lousy wages through food stamps and Medicaid. But instead of cracking down on corporate greed, Republicans want to punish the working poor.

Trump's attack on our minds reduces our capacity for self-government because ignorance is the handmaiden of tyranny. Some thoughts... https://robertreich.substack.com/p/trumps-attack-on-the-american-mind-1b0

Republicans are lying about Medicaid work requirements. The truth is that a vast majority of recipients who can work are already working. Work requirements are just a shady way to fund tax cuts for the wealthy.

The Solicitor General of the Dept. of Labor is responsible for enforcing labor laws. Who is Trump’s pick for the position? The author of Project 2025’s labor chapter — which called for gutting labor laws, limiting OT pay, and weakening unions. The “pro-worker” president...

Billions in foreign real estate deals. $320M in crypto trading fees — and a private dinner with top buyers of his meme coin. $28M from Amazon for a Melania documentary. The list goes on... We're so numb to Trump profiting off the presidency that hardly anyone notices. Hello?

“You let one ant stand up to us, then they all might stand up.” The movie ‘A Bug’s Life’ has a lot to teach us about power.

Trump’s proposed budget: -Guts a nutrition program that helps 6.7M mothers, infants, and children under 5 access healthy food -Cuts housing programs that help 5.6M families afford rent -Eliminates funding entirely for Preschool Development Grants “Pro-family” values at work.

Louis DeJoy may be gone, but the Post Office is still under attack by corporate interests and privatizers. Millions of Americans rely daily on USPS's affordable rates and universal service. We must protect our public Postal Service.

🚨NEW: 6 Nobel laureate economists signed an open letter opposing the House budget bill 🚨 The bill adds significantly to the national debt while reducing incomes for the bottom 40%, they say. The most acute & immediate damage? Millions losing Medicaid & SNAP benefits: www.epi.org/publication/...

According to AP, the typical pay package for S&P 500 CEOs rose to $17M last year — an increase of 9.7%. At half of the companies surveyed, it would take the median worker 192 years to make what the CEO did in one year.  This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.

One of our highest priorities must be to protect the people who are doing the most right now to push back against Trump’s tyranny: our judiciary. Here’s what should be done. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/protecting-our-judges
