City’s squad planning heading into this season was catastrophic. Anyone with a pair of eyes knew that not having a player to rotate with Rodri would kill us. Anyone could’ve told you that an injured Bobb, an unproven Savio, a patchy Doku and an unavailable, inconsistent Grealish wasn’t enough.

Terrible game. None of this will get better with the personnel available. Disgraceful defensively. Pep is out of ideas too. Anfield will be horrendous next weekend. The bubble had to burst eventually.

Savio shouldn’t be our number one winger. Foden being anonymous every game is killing us. Haaland is nothing without service. Lewis, Gundogan and Bernardo as a midfield three is laughable. The defence looks like a shadow of its former self, particularly Stones, Walker and Akanji.

Savinho suffered the age-old City problem of looking sharp for two games and everyone losing their mind. Every year. Same thing. Doku last year. Same thing. A good player who is not ready to be the star man at City. Wake up and see what’s in front of you.

It’s an oddly vital game for City today and yet I couldn’t feel less nervous if I tried. Lose or draw and the title looks more and more difficult. Feels like we’ll see a reaction today though. Have a feeling on a Haaland hat-trick.

When you consider how absolutely ‘done’ City would’ve been with one bad injury in a few positions prior to the season starting, it shows you how appalling the squad planning was. Haaland, Rodri, KDB. Any of those three out for the season derails us. One’s already happened.

Enjoying my Bluesky feed but what I would say is, I ticked off that I liked sports and now I’m having NFL and NBA rammed down my throat almost as hard as I was having right-wing nonsense and porn rammed down my throat on X. At least I like the NFL a bit.
