Go to town hall meetings. When they get a reception like this, it absolutely scares the hell out of them.

Folks, get mad and stay mad. Republicans have the power to stop a lot of Trump's bullshit but they will only do it if they fear for their seats.

I can only imagine the reaction from these same quarters if George Soros, who also "doesn't need your money," would have been given 1/1000 of Musk's power under a Democratic president.

He or she who joined SCOTUS’s opinion in Trump v. US should really contemplate what they’ve done

A fun thing to do with this supposed Napoleon quote is to do a google search to see what forums it appeared on with this exact wording before 2022. I'm no computer whiz, so maybe I messed up, but the only hits I got were these two...for Stormfront, a neo-Nazi forum.

There’s always a tweet.

Yesterday — YESTERDAY — JD Vance visited Dachau and said it drove home “what unspeakable evil was committed and why we should be committed to ensuring it never happens again.” Today he met with AfD?? He made a mockery of his visit to Dachau. Disgusting. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Only speaking in generalities to preserve source confidentiality. But we hear a lot about DOGErs heading right for the personnel files at these offices they go to. Seeing increasing amounts of evidence that these files are being searched for details to create pretexts to fire people. But the ...

i helped develop/run policy workforce capacity-building programs for the CDC when i was there—training early career scientists on how to do policy (and to do it better) the damage done here to public health cannot be quickly or easily reversed. it will be felt for many years & it will cost lives.

Tom Homan basically admits to a quid pro quo for dropping the corruption charges against Mayor Eric Adams in exchange for enforcing Donald Trump's mass deportation plan. "If he doesn't come through...I'll be in his office, up his butt, saying 'where the hell is the agreement we came to?'" Vile.

What exactly is the purpose of the WHCA if it isn't there to protect press access for its members? What are we even doing here?

NOAA is reportedly on the DOGE chopping block. The National Weather Service, which is part of NOAA, provides life saving weather forecasting in the US. A study found that for every $1 invested in NWS, it produces $73 in value to Americans. Again, this isn't about efficiency.

The US is under temporary management of people who abhor the American civic tradition and crave the affection of dictators yearn to become part of foreign authoritarian traditions.

The termination of 850 Indian Health Service physicians, nurses, and dentists will have a grave impact on access to care for millions of Native Americans. Upholding our treaty obligations is not optional.

Honestly I'm getting tired of the constant drumbeat that people who look like me are naturally inferior. It really weighs on the soul

A line prosecutor did this. Whats wrong with the GOP that they can’t? www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

the “administrative state” in practice is a lot of very hard working, practically anonymous people doing the thankless work of making this country run and a drug-addled dipshit is slandering them in order to steal our money for himself

is the goal merit or is the goal segregation?

Excuse me while I vent for a moment SHE IS THE APPROPRIATIONS CHAIR. SHE CAN SUBPOENA OFFICIALS, HOLD TELEVISED HEARINGS, HOLD UP ANYONE’S FUNDING, ZERO OUT THE WHITE HOUSE’S FUCKING ICE CREAM AND DIET COKE BUDGET, AND ENFORCE THE APPROPRIATIONS LAWS THAT ARE THE SOURCE OF HER PERSONAL POWER.

Trying to keep up with the constitutional crisis we are facing? @ahmedbaba.bsky.social does a great job keeping us informed.

Well, I wouldn’t die on this hill, but I think a lot of merch will get rounded up and retailers are gonna love it.

Anti-anti-Trumpists claim that those of us to whom they attribute "TDS" are incapable of saying Trump is ever right about anything. He's right about plastic straws and pennies. He's wrong about the rule of law, insurrection, the constitution, race, trade, Russia, Gaza... But, sure. Straws, pennies.

“I’m eager to see an audit,” said Sen. Roger Wicker (R., Miss.) But Wicker also said, “I have felt for a long time that USAID is our way to combat China’s Belt and Road Initiative.” “So, we need an aid program to match the Chinese effort,” he said. www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

Amidst the chaos and the law-breaking the most important thing to remember/focus on is that they are doing these things illegally because they know they don't have the votes to do it by passing laws, even in a GOP controlled Congress.

Literal Andrew Jackson backed off that position because he realized it would tear the Union apart, and he threatened to invade South Carolina over nullification a couple years later

This is the essence of it. You can do any and all of this stuff by passing laws. They're not because they lack the votes. So all of this is illegitimate and frankly illegal. I'll go one step further and say there should not be a senate filibuster. You should be able to do any and all of this by ...

Something else that comes through in this anecdote is the opportunity cost. It's absolutely vital that AGs are doing this but the resources they're bringing to bear to preserve people's rights could be targeted at other things if Harris had won.

History rhyming?

Lots of R1 universities pumping out jobs and health care in these red states. Until the end of the month, maybe.

This is one of the rare cases in which I'd say it's totally appropriate to say "excuse me, but do you know who I am?"

This is morally indefensible and strategically bankrupt. It’s just letting people die on purpose and it makes us weaker in every way.
