It's a gross understatement to say that I'm not a fan of DoFo, but...I have to say that I like this move. Maybe I'm reacting emotionally rather than intellectually, but in the case of fighting Trump tariffs it might be best to lead rather than to follow.

"The moment the U.S. tariffs came into effect in the early hours of this morning, so did the Canadian response. Canada will be implementing 25 per cent tariffs against $155 billion worth of American goods. 1/2

Who knew that there's such a thing as foot deodorant? Not me, until I ordered this by mistake. 👣

I'm pleased to see that Montreal is holding a public consultation on the homelessness crisis. What might come of it, I can't guess. But the crisis will not solve itself, and shutting down tent camps and safe-injection sites only moves the problem elsewhere. 1/2

French phrase du jour: planche à découper

If there's one thing that the city of Montreal does well, it's snow clearing and removal, including sidewalks. Well, this time those little sidewalk plows have met their match. It's chaos out there.

Yo DoFo, ya heard the expression, "when hell freezes over"?

Apparently, the Liberals aren't THAT desperate for leadership candidates.

"Good grief!" - Charlie Brown

"They illegally broke our nation's laws." Wow, that's even worse than legally breaking laws! m.youtube.com/watch?v=nNrj...

Charming bunch

More worrisome than Meta’s abandonment of fact checking is the off-the-rails rhetoric used to justify the decision. Another win for the normalization of lies. Another step toward Dark Age 2.0. www.pcmag.com/news/meta-di... Zuckerberg’s video sounds like a full MAGA promotional video.

Canadian political parties need to do something to fix their inept/vulnerable-to-influence leadership-election processes. www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

Via Rail trains can move at a pretty-good clip...when not shunted aside by freight trains. Whether merely a dedicated line rather than high-speed rail is the best solution remains to be seen.

Finally, the guy gets the message. Alas, it's too late for the Liberals and for Canadians to avoid a Pierre Poilievre government.

A chilling account of Syria's prisons for political detainees.

This is a positive development on homelessness. It's a mere drop in the bucket, but it beats eviction of people from tent camps as a government response. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

The issue isn't that this government has failed to fulfill a promise; it's that this government has failed to fulfill MOST promises. Talk is VERY cheap. And I say this as a small "l" liberal. www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

Just like DoFo, Justin seems to think that he can buy our votes with our own money. 🙄

The inmates have escaped from the institution, and this is their idea of splurging while on the lam.

This step is merely a band-aid, but it's welcome nevertheless, including to bring more attention to one of the most critical social issues of our time. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Well, I'm screwed. www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/r...

At this rate, the next appointee will be George Santos.

I expect that The Donald will try to interfere with this initiative, taking a page from the DoFo playbook (interfering with Toronto bike lanes).

The Donald's appointment of Mike Huckabee as ambassator to Israel brings to mind a comment from former Israeli PM Ariel Sharon when asked if he was worried about WHY American evangelicals donated money to Israel. 1/2 www.cbc.ca/news/world/m...

"The months’ long election campaign was polite and non-confrontational in line with consensus-driven Finnish politics with no below-the-belt attacks from any of the candidates - something that Stubb noted in his speech to Haavisto. 1/
