NANCY PELOSI: We must find the next generation of Democratic leadership. Young, charismatic and exciting candidates who can energize the party. People that voters love because they're not 80 years old and sold out to big capital. CHUCK SCHUMER (behind sniper rifle): Found one PELOSI: Take the shot

NEW FROM ME: On women's safety and how it's being used to strengthen fascist policies in the US and beyond:

OH MY GOD THE HAIRPINS SCENE FROM THE GOVERNESS AFFAIR lol great okay, I know what sex scene I'm over-explicating next

this was the second great romance-related essay I've read this week

"What is sacrifice, after all, but an act of love? What is worship but love intensified?" @hawkwinglb.bsky.social reviews Faithbreaker, the conclusion to Hannah Kaner's Fallen Gods trilogy: reactormag.com/book-review-...

Out tomorrow! I know the world is shit right now. Not gonna lie, releasing a book feels like spitting into a tornado. But maybe it can be restorative when you're exhausted, a balm to your heart. When the well is empty, maybe it can be a little rain.

And sometimes sex between two characters is just sex, so maybe it doesn't need to be on the page. Says the author whose next non-rom book has off the page sex.

one of my favorite things about this scene is how neatly the author aligns the build of the sex acts (the physical) with the build of the scene's emotional content. I love love love when authors do this well.

Ha, real glad I finished my writing for today before I read this wonderful analysis of one of the genre's best sex scenes.

the third book in this series is very much "mean conniving woman and the saddest wettest [part-time] man you've ever seen," if that is a dynamic you're into and it's half-price on itch!

Sex scenes are SCENES, with all of the burdens a scene carries: advancing plot, revealing character, complicating relationships, etc. A sex scene must do at least some of those things or it fails as a scene. Excellent romance writers know this, and Grant is one of the best. Love this analysis :).

What makes sex scenes work? What do they tell us about the characters and their relationship? How do they advance the story? if you need a break from the news and the heat this terrible Monday morning, I have done an unreasonably deep dive into a scene from Cecilia Grant's A Gentleman Undone.

I absolutely cannot fucking believe that the Eurovision movie has tried to make me believe that it is a happy ending for someone to sing a mopey ballad instead of an upbeat banger, AT EUROVISION. how dare. this is an insult to all of Europe, and also me, personally.

someone please help me re-find that French guy on TikTok who explains that women are single because they're living their best lives, and the thing men have to compete with, to date them, is the satisfaction and joy of the life they have built for themselves

Me: eh, I’m not that interested in romance Also me: omg this is FASCINATING, tell me more

YES YES YES

excellent analysis of a sex scene in one of my all-time favorite romances A GENTLEMAN UNDONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is an excellent breakdown of one of my favorite books. A GENTLEMAN UNDONE’s Will and Lydia are so complex and so damn right for each other despite all the things that are wrong.

lol I accidentally published this instead of scheduling it so oh well, I guess y'all are getting this close-read of a sex scene sooner than I intended

Five: Every time I brush my teeth I think "no no no I don't want to," but then I do it anyway so you don't get mad. Also, I think about the Earth. Like, what if it was broken?

Hey folks. I know there's a lot going on right now, but I'd really appreciate it if you read this piece I wrote on the perils of raising an autistic child during the era of RFK Jr. and his campaign of insane conspiracies and cruel scare tactics geared toward people on the spectrum.

A bit late for Juneteenth but glad I can share this piece on editors Vivian Stephens's & Veronica Mixon's contributions to the first wave of BIPOC American romance academic.oup.com/cww/article-...
