Celebrating small wins matters. The more you celebrate even the tiniest bit of progress toward becoming debt free, the more you're likely to continue making even more progress.

Tomorrow, February 28, let’s disrupt the status quo by spending ONLY at businesses that uplift our communities. #50501movement #PeoplesMovement #FiftyFiftyOne #March4thForDemocracy #ImpeachTrump #NoKings #PoliticalRevolution #BuildTheResistance #EconomicBlackout @polrev.bsky.social

Feb 28th is an EXCELLENT day to do a 100% no spend day! #economicblackout #retailblackout #retailboycott

Tracking your spending is not complicated, but it’s enormously valuable! When you buy something, write down what it was and how much it cost. Then take a minute to think about if whatever you bought was worth the time and energy it took to get that money. Adjust future purchases accordingly.

Hundreds and hundreds of people protested for hours outside the capitol building in #Lansing #Michigan as part of the #NoKings protests, despite -4 windchill and false cancellation notices going out. These #USprotests were in cities all over! #Feb17 #MIResist #50501movement #FiftyFiftyOne

Building an emergency fund? Don’t worry about interest rates, earning money with it, and or investing it. (Definitely don’t invest it.) The goal isn’t to make money with an emergency fund; it’s to prevent debt and provide safety.

Another day, another WTF regarding the current US administration. But voter suppression is probably the most critical, so please take 5 minutes and call to oppose the SAVE act now. It's easy to find the numbers here: 5calls.org/issue/save-a...

Somehow I’ve made 3 trips to Costco in the past 3 weeks, which is way more than normal. I’m ok with this! Putting my money places that haven’t dropped DEI. Plus free samples :)

Be patient and persistent. Take things one day at a time. Remember that every day that you make even a small positive change brings you one day closer to your goal.

A zero-based budget is where you account for all of your money each month. The idea is to plan out where your money will go, so that it goes where you want it to. Combine that with tracking your spending, and you’ll have some powerful tools for reaching your money goals!

Looking for ways to easily contact your reps? Here’s an app I use called 5 Calls. Available on Apple and Android. Here’s what it looks like in the Apple Store and an image of the inside of the app⬇️

If you want to get out of debt, taking a non-judgmental deep dive into how you got into it in the first place can help. Did you think it was normal? Have unexpected expenses? Overspend? Once you know the main causes, you can take steps to make sure they’re less likely to happen again

I would like a better timeline please

An emergency fund is a debt prevention fund

Batch cooking is a great way to save money & time, AND to eat healthier. It’s a win-win-win! (This became 10 frozen meals.)

Cold weather folks: This is a great time to mark all those spots in the house where cold air is rushing in. You can block it temporarily now, and fix it for good once it warms up to save money on heating and cooling. Getting rid of all those little drafts makes a huge difference!

It's totally possible (if slower!) to travel, spend time with family and friends at events, buy nice clothes, drive a car you enjoy, and generally live a good life WHILE you're getting out of debt

If we want to make this place the hugely viable alternative to the Metaverse that it can be, we need to post stuff consistently.

“What they truly advocate is Socialism for the rich and Capitalism for the poor.” Sadly, so much of this 1967 speech on The Three Evils of Society could have been written today m.youtube.com/watch?v=6sT9... #MLKday

People who get out of debt take action, and they don’t give up

Have I mentioned lately that I love living near the lake? It’s beautiful year round :)

You don’t have to get out of debt a certain way. The best way is whatever you can stick with :)

You’ve still got about 5 days to actively participate in ACA open enrollment! Here’s why it’s important—even if you have ACA anxiety—and ways you can effectively address that anxiety over the coming years:

Getting out of debt means only spending money you already have. Paying down what you already owe. Preparing for your future, both short & long term. Tackling the past. Living the life YOU want to live.

If you have medical debt, the final CFPB rule could boost your credit score by an average of 20 points. Here are the details from @loriekonish.bsky.social: www.cnbc.com/2025/01/07/c...

It may seem obvious, but it’s not: If you want to become debt free, the #1 thing you’ve got to do is quit borrowing money

Debt freedom is a way of life, not a fad diet

Have you ever gone to meet with an elected official (or their staff) in person to discuss something that matters to you? If not, give it a try!
