Same.

Complete batshit lunacy on the president's Truth Social account. Yes, he really posted this.

Basic authoritarian stuff: the government revolves around protecting the President and punishing his enemies. Completely inconsistent with democratic norms, but will barely be a blip in the news in our new regime.

This might be an old person opinion, but it is shocking how spoiled everyone is. Oh, a shot that is cheap to produce, has minimal side effects, and reduces your chance of disease by a full third isn’t good enough? What do you want here and how do you look to achieve it?

Acting Attorney General of the United States under George W. Bush—>

Dear politicians: be more like Gov. Mills

listen to this. Elon can barely form a sentence right now.

We are entering a new era—Government by Gimmick. Policies won’t be serious efforts to solve real problems but mere attention-grabbing stunts.

I tried to stay to stay loyal and support WaPo. But I just can’t do it any longer. Just canceled my subscription and donated 10x as much to propublica. Do better @washingtonpost.com

This is a good time to remind everyone that this administration hasn't done anything for anyone. It has literally only taken away things we've already paid for and fired and sued people. Oh and the quid pro quo with Adams. That's the extent of what they have done. Kinda nuts.

I’ve made this specific point about Hitler so many times. I know it’s an overused comparison, but it’s almost uncanny this time. Sadly.

"... slashing and burning won’t improve matters. It’s just going to weaken the foremost truth squad in American education, the chief sponsor and funder of rigorous analysis, reliable data, and clear-eyed evaluations in a realm that needs more of those things, not less."

“What's the urgency of doing it tonight?" Judge Nichols asked. Shumate replied: "the President has decided there is corruption and fraud at USAID." Shumate did not provide evidence. www.npr.org/sections/goa...

Has anyone checked the price of eggs? Are they $.99 yet?

Per IES “The virtual NCES Data Users Conference, scheduled to take place on February 11-13, 2025, has been postponed to allow the Institute of Education Sciences to consider how to meet our statutory mission given available resources and broader agency priorities.”

Say it with me now: FORCED REMOVAL IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY

This is a genocidal war crime endorsed by the president of the United States

🚨BREAKING. From a program officer at the National Science Foundation, a list of keywords that can cause a grant to be pulled. I will be sharing screenshots of these keywords along with a decision tree. Please share widely. This is a crisis for academic freedom & science.

Government Officials Punished for Protecting Government Data from Thieves

The stupidity and the cruelty

Important new research by my @dartmouthartsci.bsky.social colleagues: test-optional admission *hurts* the chances of less advantaged applicants, who don't submit scores that would dramatically increase their chance of admission. www.nber.org/papers/w3338...

New results from "The Nation's Report Card" just dropped and they are pretty bad. I got a sneak peek as a member of IES’s Standing Committee, so I had an extra day or so to ruminate about them. A few thoughts 👇 1/n

So all Federal funding paused? Seems to include all research grants? wapo.st/4gfgcHQ

Breaking news: Acting deputy attorney general Emil Bove said state and local officials must "comply with the Executive Branch’s immigration enforcement initiatives,” including mass deportation efforts.

…..woah

The first visual of the Trump presidency at the border; a sobbing woman in Ciudad Juárez stands outside the Paso Del Norte port of entry, clutching a pole as she weeps having learned that her 1:00PM appointment for a chance to seek asylum in the US has been cancelled. x.com/arelisrhdz/s...

NEWS: There already have been three Federal Advisory Committee Act lawsuits filed today regarding "DOGE" in federal court in DC: - a @publiccitizen.bsky.social one - a @nationalsecuritylaw.org one - an American Public Health Association one by @democracyforward.bsky.social and @crew.bsky.social

SAT optional policies have no effect on diversity, gender ratios, student quality, or even application numbers (beyond a brief but fleeting increase.) It turns out people have largely been arguing over…nothing. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
