Increased costs of living directly correlate to crime (most are related to money). Incarceration is the most expensive “solution.” Addressing systemic issues & increasing public services & opportunities (especially for youth) is proven to work. We’re going in the wrong direction.

Today in court a litigant in a case before mine broke down crying because they'd spent $67,000 on attorneys and the case still wasn't over, they were denied appointed counsel, and had to represent themselves, and as much as we talk about universal healthcare we also need universal right to counsel.
