New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has reportedly ordered a CUNY college to remove a job posting for a professorship in Palestinian Studies, sparking outrage among advocates who say she is contributing to the censorship and dehumanization of Palestinians.

Behold the champion of meritocracy. Even the cabinet members look ashamed (except Peter Navarro, who really thinks he IS the best). For all you folks who got snookered by talk of “merit,” how much more apparent can the truth be? They wanted a return to affirmative action for mediocre white guys

This is just Nazism.

Ted Cruz gotta go too, I guess.

The Tablet, a prominent Jewish American magazine, is publishing straight up genocide apologia:

People’s reactions to these stories tend to be of the leopards-eating-faces variety but this is a great piece of reporting in part about how voters very disconnected from politics make their choices. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

These stories amount to "the left was so annoying about pronouns or liberals made people feel so guilty about plastic straws they had no choice but to get on board with the second coming of the Third Reich and the destruction of the planet."

the current head of the FBI has 8 separate appearances on this show

For all the assholes blaming Muslims and Arabs for Trump. Point your fire at yourselves. This was an own goal of your making for not thinking through support for genocide by the lesser of two evils.

Dog and an otter.. 😊

Universities that decried Trump’s “Muslim Ban” in 2017 are largely silent in the face of the president’s brazen executive order to revoke the visas of students involved in Palestine solidarity protests.

Can you call yourself a historian without any degrees in history at all?

Whoa I had no idea this was happening 🫨

Israeli defenders are really going with the argument that they accidentally killed 18,000 children — largest number of children slaughtered in conflict since the Rwanda genocide — and therefore they’re not responsible

Bezos destroying the post opinion pages is just another reminder: Conservatives think free speech is when they can say what they want and when you can say what they want.

As the ABA rolls over and plays dead on DEI, state bar associations should take the lead and enforce ethics rules. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

I hadn’t quite realized it until it was front and center in national US politics (my own privilege, naïveté perhaps) but I now see how many men especially on the right see a woman divorcing a man as worse than domestic violence

Hochul’s move here is profoundly racist and dehumanizing. Defining Palestinian studies as fundamentally antisemitic means defining Palestinians as something to be erased. It is genocidal. This is also an unacceptable attack on academic freedom. The governor should have no say in faculty hiring.

How I felt leaving the US for a few days.

"Dillon, along with six other attendees, were there for the unveiling of a painstaking project: A quilt honoring the nearly 600 victims of forced sterilization in state prisons who are still alive today." #Craftiverse missionlocal.org/2025/02/forc...

The West Bank is being invaded.

Think I’ll pass on the piece in which a racist creep explains why a major party embracing the Nazi salute really isn’t a big deal.

“Weiss sees in college campus protesters the faces of hardcore Hamas supporters, but apparently is willing to countenance the idea that grown men doing Nazi salutes are just playing around. And…laughably, Weiss is the author of How to Fight Antisemitism.”

I miss DEI

What is a TRO, and how is that different from a preliminary injunction? Over at @lawfare.bsky.social, Suzanne Goldberg has a useful explainer for those (especially non-lawyers) trying to make sense of legal news in trial courts. lawfaremedia.org/article/temp...

In Florida, it is the GOP demanding review of syllabi and trying to impose what can and cannot be taught. Far from D.E.I. officers who were largely useless.

First of all, look at the data—progressive didn’t lose the election. If every third part vote had gone to Harris, she would have still lost. Second, did you miss the 15 months of genocide under Biden? Did you miss the part where Harris promised nothing different?

It's called "re-segregation."

U.S. Attorneys are not the President’s lawyers. They are the United States’ lawyers. You didn’t pledge an oath to a President, you pledged it to the constitution. This statement alone is reason enough to resign.

How to change a swastika that cant be removed

Right-wing censors are now "quiet banning" books that they can't removed legally. Librarians in Chicago have been finding books dealing with race, LGBTQ+ issues or Islam hidden under shelves, in trash cans or otherwise "disappeared." www.chicagotribune.com/2025/02/22/l...

This is absolutely horrifying. There is no such thing as free speech in a country where this can happen. Video here: www.krem.com/video/news/l...

I would not be surprised in Gregg was involved in trying to locate my brother in Mt. Rainier. My heart goes out to him and all the federal workers suffering under this ruthless attack on our communities.

I've taught many future JAGs and went to law school with even more (UVA is adjacent to the JAG school and the students regularly take classes at UVA). Those JAGs are some of the finest lawyers I've ever met. They tend to have a strong belief in the rule of law. No wonder Trumpists hate them.

Oh. One day after Coonerama at the White House, Trump fired the Black chairman of the joint chiefs. And you won’t hear the negroes who kiss Trump’s ass say a goddamn thing.

“The numerous mistakes, according to people familiar with the complex world of government contracting, suggest that Mr. Musk’s team of outsiders, charged by the president with cutting spending, don’t fully understand it.” www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/u...

Judicial warrant (L) signed by a judge = based on probable cause, supported by evidence weighed by a judge. Cooperation required by law. Administrative warrant (R), signed by ICE/CBP = unsupported;"reasonable suspicion" standard of proof. Have the LEO slide the warrant under the door.

We should all do this.

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

I have been so excited since I found out this would be announced today! RIP any ability for me to concentrate: www.apple.com/tv-pr/news/2...

the whole 2020-2024 era of “dems shouldnt aggressively use the levers of power bc then republicans will do the same thing when theyre elected” sure looks dumb as dog shit right now huh
