Husband, parent, Democrat, reader, news junkie, classic movie fan, dog walker. If you think Trump’s agenda is a relatively new phenomenon in America, time to read (or re-read) The Grapes of Wrath.

Ok, this is the last one

Most films that I loved as a young man I look at now and feel some disappointment. One of the few exceptions is “Lawrence of Arabia”. That film impresses me more each time I watch it, decades after my first viewing. The 4K is breathtaking.

“Trump inaugurated on MLK Day”: a great new way to explain the word “irony” to your kids.

It turns out the movie “The Social Network” portrayed Zuckerberg way too favorably. He might be even worse than Musk, if that’s even possible.

Tesla’s reliance upon cameras and AI, with no backup systems such as radar or laser sensors for poor visibility conditions, will lead to many injuries and deaths. Trump and Musk won’t care, of course.

A little light reading for the holidays. Taschen’s incredible two-volume “Making of Kubrick’s The Shining”.

I’m looking forward to the scene at the end of the new #Superman movie where he flies to the White House to be congratulated for saving the world and our President says to him, “Whyd’ya have to save all those people from shithole countries?”

I thought avoiding politics and focusing on the arts would cheer me up, then I saw this headline: Roland Emmerich is remaking “Lawrence of Arabia”. 🫣

“Flow” is one of the most beautiful and haunting animated movies I’ve ever seen. Still thinking about it a week later.

I don’t understand why Ridley Scott thinks there’s gonna be a “Gladiator 3” when it looks like “Gladiator 2” is gonna lose Paramount over $100 million. 🤔

One way to look at this is, Trump is only willing to hire extreme loyalists. Another way to look at it is, only extreme loyalists are willing to work for Trump. Given what we know about his first term, what competent, sane person would accept?
