The older I get, the more I wished I'd sat down and really talked with my grandparents when they were alive. Especially since I can't get my damn crochet to work. Wherever you are Gran, give me strength.

Was just reading about the student "sick-out" protest at University of Houston a few weeks back. It would be a real shame if other groups nationwide planned something similar to occur on a chosen day. Even worse if it was combined with a "no-spending" day.

To all my Southeast US homies, Winn-Dixie still has diversity inclusive policies on their website. They even have the Romay Davis Belonging, Inclusion and Diversity Grant program to support local nonprofit organizations that address racial disparities in health care, food insecurity and education.
