I didn't love Benson Boone at first, but he's growing on me.

Yeah, I'm good. Not a cover. A heck of a sample, though. And she sings the hell out of it, as you will see as you wind through my post.

I was in a Kim Petras mood. This was not the @kimpetras.bsky.social song I wanted to post but I didn't think my readers were ready for "Whale Cock". But also, this is a great song.

I loved Adele's first two albums, seriously. This one, not so much, but it's grown on me.

Let's talk about Tina Snow. Oh, wait, we better not. She might write a diss track about us :D Nah, we love her!

No less than five different artists, and at least four different languages (English, Dutch, French, Korean), but the most successful iteration was the second most successful instumental song in history. Also, this is far and away the biggest hit song that originated as a Eurovision entry.

A lot of people think DEI is the same thing as affirmative action. It isn't. DEI is about engagement, not hiring preference.

Not only did Mr. Worldwide give a-ha full writing credit on this song, he invited Morten Harket on stage to sing it with him and Xtina.

I take no #WickedGP in our Special Edition posts. Today's commemorates the late Marianne Faithfull, who passed away yesterday. But I will continue to write them. And yes, she originated the song.

This came about because Spotify played a Savage Garden song on shuffle for me today. It wasn't this song, but it got me started.

Hooow lonnnngg has this been going on? Yep, there's an uncredited interpolation in this song, and now that I mentioned it, you can't unhear it. But also, it's a great song.

My journey writing my blog is an interesting one. This started off as a 2-song post - because it's impossible to separate the ATF and Falco songs. As I was researching, I discovered the Laura Branigan "version". And that changed everything.

If you have never read my blog, #WickedGP, today is the day to change that. This is a worthwhile read if just for the performance from Austin City Limits, which is incredible. Also, the video tells a story and I detail the story for you in a way you probably didn't consider.

Look, I admit that I like the Spice Girls. They were not winning Grammys. They just made fun pop music. They also liked the word "spice" a lot.

Look, I have to be honest. I fully intended to and did post this Kate Bush classic - which is a short and beautiful ballad - on #WickedGP. My intention was to post a cover of this song - probably the Tina Arena cover, which I will post someday - on #TotallyCovered.

So today, I did a LOT of posts. My main #WIckedGP post was one about a song from the early 1970's - from a musical - and competing versions of it.

I post a lot about my blog - Wicked Guilty Pleasures - on here, but I actually have a second blog - Totally Covered - that gets ignored a lot. Today, it does not. On #WickedGP, I have the earlier Chicks version, but I really badly wanted to post this version, so here you go.

OK, this has become my message for the LP lately.

Continuing the theme of songs that give me literally chills. This Olympic-sized performance by Céline Dion - I never would have thought I'd end a year on Céline Dion - but damn.

I'm not gonna lie. I struggled to like Chappell Roan. Then I saw the video for this song and it clicked. When she throws the song to the audience, it gives me literal chills.

I... uh, unwrapped Spotify Wrapped today. I had a bit of an anomaly in mine this year.

This song is one of the biggest worldwide hits of all time, and it's still going very strong. It's also the best song ever written about Korean drinking games.

A very Merry Xmas to all. Also, this is a lively version.

Yeah, I had to. Because Charli XCX has the consensus critical best album of 2024 - and although it doesn't make my top 5, it's really solid.

Pretty sure Kendrick Lamar doesn't like Drake.

You've seen me post my blog posts. Would any of you be interested in my top 10 albums of 2024? It'll be a list unlike anyone else's, in that it won't have Brat by Charli XCX on the top of it.

Kind of a weird post today, featuring two artists - really three - doing the same song.

This cover by @jennyowenyoungs.bsky.social is SO MUCH better than the original (sorry, Nelly).

I've had Connor Price on pretty heavy rotation lately. Today's #WickedGP can really spit rhymes, and he's got a cool concept he's been playing with.

I have had this song by @carolinepolacheck.bsky.social (I think that's actually possibly her) on heavy rotation lately, so it's my #WickedGP today.

I share these on several social media platforms. This is the only one where I'm telling you to take a good hard look at the motherfuckin' #WickedGP.

This @charlottecardin.bsky.social (is this really her?!) song is not actually about Jim Carrey. It's about her ego. It is, however, a delightful song and today's #WickedGP.

The Temptations are better than you remember.

Every day, I hope my #WickedGP artists are on Bluesky. @iskwe.bsky.social maaayyyyyyy be the first. Sorry - ᐃᐢᑫᐧᐤ. I hope she confirms. @ninahagen.bsky.social is almost definitely not her.

I cannot believe I never did a #WickedGP featuring a single Mary Timony project - especially Helium!

So I write my posts for #WickedGP in advance. I discovered this artist and song last week and pretty immediately wrote about it. I've been excited to share it since.

This is the absolute weirdest song I have ever posted on #WickedGP, but as I am exploring the #Coachella2025 artist list, this is going to happen. She's leaning REALLY hard into the horse theme.

I did not expect new Fairground Attraction, and yet here we are... with some new Fairground Attraction. www.wickedguilty.com/2024/11/18-n...

Not sure if The Beaches are on bluesky, but I am, and so is #WickedGP

As promised, more #TotallyCovered action by Elisapie covering Cyndi Lauper. Her album Inuktitut won a JUNO Award this week.

Had some trouble sharing here recently, but here you go. Here's multiple JUNO winner Charlotte Cardin, including a #MapleLeafMarch worthy performance from literally last night.

You know #MapleLeafMarch is stacked when Feist is pushed to a Saturday. But please, listen to this. It's fantastic.
