That's my 60-day walking challenge, promoting cardiac risks in young adults & the importance of CPR training, duly completed. The final tally:- 🧮 766.3 km 🧮 476.2 miles 👣 1,094,700 steps Ready for a rest!

Just 7️⃣ days left in my 60-day challenge now 🥾. Recent locations include an evening walk through Leicester city centre and familiar routes alongside the local canals, here is SE Derbyshire. I am currently at 6️⃣6️⃣0️⃣km, so hoping to get well beyond 700km by this time next week.

Now 47 days into my pledge to walk a minimum of 6️⃣0️⃣0️⃣km in 6️⃣0️⃣ days to highlight cardiac risks in young adults & the charity established in my late son's memory. Already up to 5️⃣9️⃣0️⃣km after my latest walk; 16km around the Chatsworth Estate. Check out @redfern_fund on Instagram if you're interested

Now 38 days into my pledge to walk a minimum of 6️⃣0️⃣0️⃣km in 6️⃣0️⃣ days to highlight cardiac risks in young adults & the charity established in my late son's memory. Already up to 4️⃣8️⃣1️⃣km, including a couple of days on the Yorkshire coast last week. Check out @redfern_fund on Instagram if you're interested

Some highlights from January, where I have walked 378km towards my challenge of completing 600km in 60 days to promote my late son's Memorial Fund. Adam, an active sportsman, died of sudden cardiac arrest whilst out running in 2021. Please check out @redfern_fund on Instagram if you're interested

Missed the worst of Storm Eowyn here in Derbyshire, although this afternoon's walk was still accompanied by a cutting wind. Nice to see a splash of sunset colour over the Erewash Canal. #landscape #nature #sunset

After a few days of gunmetal grey skies, we finally saw a welcome splash of colour this afternoon. Image is one of reflections over Sawley Cut.

20 January 2025. The day on which a convicted felon, with a history of racism, misogyny & corruption, becomes leader of the most powerful nation in the West. The day on which the divisive, Nazi-supporting owner of X becomes an unelected member of the US Government. A grim day for humanity.

Perfect symmetry. This afternoon's waterside sunset. Clear skies indicating a chilly night to come. Location: Trent Lock, Derbyshire. #nature #photography #sunset #stormhour

Two days of warmer, characterless weather and I'm already missing the clear skies and beautiful sunsets that accompanied last week's cold snap. #nature #photography #sunset

Back to grey skies here, albeit warmer, so one from Friday afternoon - the tranquillity of sunset over an icy Erewash Canal. #Derbyshire #nature #photography #sunset

This afternoon's sunset over a flooded and very icy West Park, Long Eaton. Evidently, it's warming up from tomorrow, but it's going to take a while before the water subsides! #nature #photography #sunset ##stormhour

An absolutely glorious post sunset afterglow over Trent Lock in Derbyshire this evening. Another very cold night to come, too. #nature #photography #sunset-#stormhour

Good morning. A scene from the beginning of yesterday's walk in the Derbyshire Dales. A fast-flowing River Derwent at Cromford, set against a backdrop of frost-covered fields, with the remains of recent snowfall still evident in more shaded areas. #photography #nature #landscape

Matlock Bath during a 13km walk in the Derbyshire Dales today. This is part of a 600km in 60 days challenge I'm undertaking to promote my late son's Memorial Fund. Adam, an active sportsman, died of sudden cardiac arrest whilst out running in 2021. Please check out @redfern_fund on Instagram.

Finally able to get out for a welcome walk this afternoon, after a very wet 36 hours. Unfortunately, sunset colour was disappointing, so I'll share this one from the first week of 2021, when the Trent was just as swollen and fast-flowing as it is today.

Busy start to 2025, inc a 32k dawn 'till dusk walk on 2 Jan, to mark what would have been our son's 32nd birthday & promote his Memorial Fund's annual 5k Run on 9 Mar. Adam, an active sportsman, died of sudden cardiac arrest whilst out running in 2021. Please check out @redfern_fund on Instagram.

Last post of 2024 & as it's New Year's Eve, a day when Big Ben takes centre stage in the UK, this feels appropriate. This image of moody skies is from September, when sunset was almost directly behind the Parliament building. Wishing everyone a healthy, happy and successful 2025. #HappyNewYear

2024 will be noted as a year when many of us swapped the toxicity of X for Bluesky. Social media as it should be; a pleasure to use. To end 2024, a couple of my favourite local waterside images, beginning with this Erewash Canal scene from 1 Feb. It needed no embellishment! #nature #photography

During a period when every day feels like Sunday, it took a while to realise it is Sunday! 😁 Nice to break the monotony with a walk alongside the Erewash Canal, as the sun made its first appearance since Christmas Day, producing some eye-catching reflections. #photography #nature

Boxing day has been one of mist and murk here in south Derbyshire, so I'll share another image of the beautiful sunset we were treated to on Christmas Eve. This is the view towards Sawley Lock, captured from the footbridge over the River Trent.

Perfect spring-like weather for a Christmas Day walk. For those of us who struggle at this time of year, being able to treat it as a normal day & spend time connecting with nature is an absolute blessing.

An absolutely stunning sunset to end our Christmas Eve walk alongside the River Trent here in Long Eaton. Wishing everyone a relaxing & enjoyable Christmas holiday.🎄 #nature #photography #sunset

Through the winter solstice and daylight hours slowly getting longer again. For those of us who struggle with the dark evenings, it's always a milestone to tick off. Picure is Attenborough Nature Reserve, Nottingham. #photography #nature

Finally, a break in the monotony of greyness and the opportunity to get in a welcome 8-mile walk. This is Cranfleet Cut, off The River Trent, shortly before low cloud intervened to spoil sunset. #photography #walking #nature #sunset
