“To help combat #ClimateChange, the church is releasing a carbon reduction calendar for Lent. The calendar has tips for reducing energy use, local resources for going green, journal prompts about climate change and meatless recipes.” www.klkntv.com/lincoln-chur...

It may be late, according to the original estimated delivery date, but at least it's carbon-neutral. #Priceless

Hats off to whomever is responsible for maintaining the bathrooms at Hidden Valley Park. Toronto can't tell me it's too much work or money to do this.

Guess who has extremely bad handwriting and got to be Vestry Clerk this year? Moi.

Canada needs to ban Starlink - and provide a PUBLIC, Canadian alternative, NOW! Any dependence on Elon Musk is a clear danger to our national security.

The notion that Trump's "I'm king" tweet is "just trolling" or "a joke" presents an opportunity to recreate my just-joking thread (porting it over from the Bad Place): 1. I wrote my PhD dissertation on the social function of humor (in literature & film) and here's the thing about "just joking."

Seriously, Canada Post? Isn't this a step backwards? #InTheNameOfSecurity

OH at the grocery store "So which is it? US or Mexico?"

In the last Ontario election, more than 6 million eligible voters did not vote. That’s 6 million voices missing from the conversation about our province’s future. Advanced polling happens today and tomorrow. Please make sure your voice is heard. www.elections.on.ca/en/voting-in...

TIL that the HSR link the Feds announced yesterday will NOT go to Toronto because it CANNOT go to Union Station. It will likely go to Vaughn. Or so says a Metrolinx engineer. How do you like them apples? www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/art...

I haz the textbook.

I just watched a garbage truck spin its tires trying to get down an alley. Yeah, I guess it's gonna be a while b4 things are back to normal.

Canadians on here actually being like "I can't believe how bad things are getting in the US" without acknowledging Alberta just passed some of the harshest anti-LGBTQ+ laws and are about to vote Doug Ford back into power. Wakeup because the far right are in inside the building

Boom! After a gutting of land use planning the Ontario government promised would deliver "more homes, faster", housing starts have FALLEN 29% since this time last year. Ontario's now 36% SLOWER than the national average. Here's why-& how we fix it. environmentaldefence.ca/2025/02/20/o... #onpoli

Good stuff.

I want to believe. He's hoping Liberals will be in power long enough that no one after them will want to be the "Diefenbaker" to cancel it. Me too.

Infamous day in my family. Caused a brain drain of Canadian engineers most notably to NASA. In the case of my Dad, he went to the UK and worked on the Concorde for 5 years b4 coming back to work on CANDU nuclear reactors. He never voted Conservstive again.

Contrarian here to tell you that retail therapy is not always the answer to everything.

Some days being a Data Architect feels like I'm pushing string...with my hands behind my back.

OH "Sorry I'm late, team. My computer didn't like my face this morning"

About once a week, I sit back and ponder what it's going to be like to retire. And additionally, when will I be able to retire? 65 1/2 like originally planned? 66? 66 1/2? I will miss the people. Not so much the work. I get the feeling data mdelling will retire with me.

Not a good start to the day. And, hey, more snow forecast for today.

Yes! We do this in children's museums - we create opportunities for adults to model behavior. It's inspiring to see a grown-up you care about express wonder, awe, and curiosity.

Want to go visit the national parks this year? Sorry. The reservation system is shut down, EMT personnel are gone, so don't get hurt or lost. No one can clean the bathrooms or cabins, so they'll be closed. Rangers are fired. www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/arti...

Re Rolling Stone's list of alternatives to Amazon, I give you my list.

It felt like the housing file got short shrift. It should have been central IMO.

General impression, Doug Ford quotes $$ but not so much on outcomes.

Mike Schriener would not open a new government department who would manage building new homes. Marit Stiles points out every other province has a department for affordable housing. #onpoli

I had to pause the debate for a phone call with my Mom. On the rare occasion when I talk to her this way I come away with a lot of compassion for her. Growing old is no fun.
