R.I.P. Mike Ratledge (May 6, 1943 – February 5, 2025), a founding member Soft Machine, formed with Daevid Allen, Robert Wyatt, Kevin Ayers and Larry Nowlin in 1966. They named their group after the 1961 William S. Burroughs novel of the same name. He also worked with Syd Barrett and Kevin Ayers.
