~Random Game Saturday~ Kirby’s Dream Land 3 on Super Famicom. An okay Kirby game with an adorable art style. A very late system release. Kirby 64 is somewhat of a remake. You could buy this game for $100+ in the US. Or you could just import it from Japan for like $20. All text is in English.

I think about the arcade game “King and Balloon” way too often. It’s a Space Invaders clone with reportedly the first digitalized voice in a game. The titular king shouts “HELP” and “THANK YOU” at the player constantly. And it is very loud. The ‘thank you’ feels so sarcastic.

Watched David Lynch’s Eraserhead. A very experimental film. There is very little dialogue, and the movie decidedly chooses not to use color. However, these elements give a very surreal feel. Honestly, I really enjoyed it! There are two scenes in particular that were standouts for me.

Watched the 2006 Silent Hill movie. It is weirdly faithful to the games, while doing its own thing. The fact that the soundtrack is entirely remixes of the VG music is great. Some of the changes are odd — didn’t feel necessary. Overall, I don’t know how to feel about the movie. I guess just ‘eh’?
