Nexusmods has never done me wrong, but it's always good practice to check every file before use. I don't believe this to be malicious, but you never know. If it is then it needs to be removed... 80k+ people have downloaded it so far

If you want you can skip that specific quest (it'll remain incomplete) and advance to the next, but it'll require the console.

Aside from downloading a mod to use the console and manually play around with quest triggers, or reloading to a prior save and tip-toe through it I don't think there is a fix currently.

This quest is bugged. Not sure if the recent patches have touched it, but the only way I know how to fix it would be to reload to an earlier save, don't talk to the quest giver and go take care of the bandits
