Data are essential to evidence based policy making and NCES has played a critical role in decades of critical data gathering and analysis.

We applaud Congress for calling on the Education Department to protect the essential work of the Institute of Education Sciences. Dismantling data collection, analysis, and reporting would undercut the nation's efforts to ensure quality education. docs.publicnow.com/viewDoc?file...

Send a message to giant companies ripping us off. On Feb. 28, don't shop online, in big box stores, no Amazon, no Walmart, no Best Buy, fast food nor gas. Just one day will send a powerful message. Think they'll miss our DEI dollars? Don't spend. Then, let them know why.

Innovative preparation of K-5 teachers to teach science at UGA led by Prof. Emily Adah Miller - “teachers can actually learn from the students, the students can learn from the teachers, and we can learn from the community” bit.ly/sciduallang @universityofga.bsky.social

Thank you @nrdc.org for fighting back on behalf of the planet!

This is one way to make your voice heard that can have a very big impact and only a small bit of your time. The thread even has some suggestions of things you might say if you want/need some help putting your thoughts together. 🧪🎓

Great explanation of how cutting indirect costs to universities will cause irreparable harm to scientific research in the U.S. Please share broadly with folks who may not get how these costs support the research that has brought us medical, scientific, economic, and social progress for decades.

@indivisible.org #TruthBrigade Is it just me or are others seeing bit.ly blocking the indivisible.or URLs in all the #TruthBrigade posts?

I’ve seen this tactic before. Cutting funds w/out any understanding of how it hurts families and kids. I’m reminded, these are our tax dollars. These are funds that were allocated legally, requiring a ton of work by those who applied for the funds & now 1,000s of hardworking people are w/out jobs.

Most parents value a good education. Yet The White House calls science, history & critical thinking ‘radical’ while pushing to control curriculum. Who benefits from an uneducated public? Lies don’t justify taking learning away from our children. #TruthBrigade truthbrigade.indivisible.org/s/WLcbiktZ

SOON: We’re rallying at the Capitol to protect students and public schools. We refuse to stay silent as Republicans try to dismantle the Department of Education. Please join us if you’re in the D.C. area.

👎 Great way to further the federal investment in education 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

So to my friends who are HHMI-funded, are you going to speak out about this? HHMI is a private funder and does not have to follow the executive orders, and yet.... www.science.org/content/arti...

In 1980, a bipartisan Congress passed the Science and Engineering Equal Opportunities Act of 1980, which authorized the National Science Foundation “to promote the full use of human resources in science and technology through a comprehensive & continuing program to increase substantially

As Trump tries to dismantle the Department of Education, remember that his plan to cut the corporate tax rate to 15% would give the 100 largest corporations a tax cut larger than the entire department's K-12 budget. Really think about how twisted this all is.

Looking forward to attending a science education meeting this week. I am participating along with a diversity of researchers from diff fields. Conf organizers booked a hotel inclusive of enough space for all of us & lunch with equitable servings of food. Hope that's ok with the feds.

#AcademicSky An important statement from the American Association of University Professors @aaup.bsky.social on "Against Anticipatory Obedience." Please read. www.aaup.org/report/again...

It is simply not enough for universities to say, “Our grants & research offices are looking into how research will be affected by the latest directive.” University leaders must actively and very publicly make the case for the kind of work many of us do. The silence on this front is deafening.

Very therapeutic in these times!

Past presidents knew the value of education. Upon the subject of education...I can only say that I view it as the most important subject we as a people can be engaged in. That every [person] may receive at least a moderate education...appears to be an object of vital importance. -Abraham Lincoln
