I don't seem to be getting any traction on my #Ukraine posts, either here on Bluesky or Twitter/X. If you read them, let me know. Back to the day job in 2025 and helping the everyday people I can, and who care. I'm finding that most of the social media I do is no longer worth my health, or my time.

The proofs are here! I can't wait to see my article out - a deep-dive into travelogues about Africa, written by women from state socialist Hungary (1960s-1980s). 🗃🗃

I’ve made a set of free worksheets for anyone who is working through the steps in THE BOOK PROPOSAL BOOK. Get them here (scroll down the page a bit to get to the downloads): manuscriptworks.com/book

Syllabus-building. I am really excited to teach the course "Gender and Communism in the Postwar World" at Uni Bielefeld in the summer term. 🗃🗃📚

In two weeks, I'm starting a guided reading seminar on #WWI. I have a list of articles I want my students to read, but it is focused on the Habsburg Empire and the Balkans. So I'm asking for suggestions. Any recent articles that you really liked and are also suitable for undergraduates?

Reading of the day: 🗃🗃📚

I've just closed my browser with 48 open tabs, and I will not look back.

On some days, I just love my job. 🗃🗃 (accidental find in Seize the Time, Special Women's Issue, April 1976)

Da geht was! 💪

As I am reviewing my non-academic publications for a scholarship (keep your fingers crossed!), I thought I would share the two English-language pieces from last year. First is my personal essay about 30 years of democratic Poland based on auto-microhistory, so to speak.

Exciting new edited collection on IOs and the Cold War #HistIR www.bloomsburycollections.com/monograph?do...

I can't believe that the first draft of the introduction for my second book is ready. Now I need to take a step back, and then continue with reverse outlining. 🗃🗃

Weeding through the DPRK's correspondence with Hungary(1973) about honoring those involved in medical assistance twenty years prior. Excited to see more of the afterlives of marriages between HU and North Korean participants. 🗃 About the medical assistance: womenshistorynetwork.org/maria-nagys-...

And if you're into history (of all types), here's a #starterpack of historians in Britain! I'm a medical historian and my latest book, THE FACEMAKER, is about the pioneering surgeon Sir Harold Gillies who rebuilt soldiers' faces during WW1. Find all sorts on this list! go.bsky.app/Fpw6Tvr

This looks really interesting.

Ich habe versucht, deutschsprachige Buchverlage, die ich schon auf Bluesky gefunden habe, hier zusammenzuführen. Dürfen gerne noch mehr werden. go.bsky.app/K2MxXMN

The latest issue of Twentieth Century Communism journal has been published by @lawrencewishart.bsky.social. It is a special issue on poetry and communism, edited by Ben Harker. journals.lwbooks.co.uk/tcc/vol-2024...

Back on Bluesky! I’m not entirely sure about its potential as a lively social network, but I’ve missed its informative academic side.
