Operation Assad: in the 48 hours before the Syrian dictator fled, a private jet made four flights to Abu Dhabi carrying bags of cash, valuables, laptops, confidential documents and some of Assad's aides. Some really good detective work here by @reuters.com.

Marco Rubio says that Americans living in Europe shouldn't ever have to face any ramifications for their political speech online. The chutzpah is jaw-dropping, as he is PERSONALLY trying to deport legal immigrants for their political speech in the United States.

No surprise here.

I want to tell you why the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia should matter to you. The one power you cannot give the executive is the ability to imprison or expel anyone regardless of their legal rights. That is our key check against autocracy. And we are watching it disappear.

The new dividing line in the Democratic Party isn’t liberal vs moderate, or old vs young. It’s active vs passive. Dem politicians who are doing something to break through in this moment are rising; Dems seen as punching in & out and content to do the bare minimum are vulnerable.

Truly need a lot more of this.

This is precisely why FDR moved against tariffs in the 1930s. Tariffs allowed big businesses to get around them while screwing over the little guy. It seems like we need to learn that lesson again.

They've botched this from the beginning.

This will damage our system of higher education, a key export, and thereby our ability to attract talented individuals to the US for many many years to come. It will therefore weaken us.

Cantwell: "You're telling us in your testimony you want a tariff on semiconductors. I'm saying that the last administration and this organization here passed the CHIPS and Science Act so we could reshore semiconductors. You're not going to win the innovation economy by tariffing semiconductors."

It’s a month since the administration detained and disappeared a green card holder, a lawful permanent resident. We cannot allow this to be normalized or forgotten.

A new @reuters.com poll shows Republicans overwhelmingly approve of President Trump's expansive new tariffs, the most support you will ever see among Republicans for a large tax increase. (Everybody else, not so much.) www.reuters.com/markets/us/7...

Sec. Bessent is very clearly signaling to the markets, this is coming to an end, which would be in line with the art of the deal. The mad king has to credibly act mad to be seen as mad and then takes the win. The only caveat would be...what if the king is actually mad?

Both congressmen were in their 70s when they died in office

The Trump administration is comfortable disappearing people to foreign gulags partially because the Trumpis Justices on the Roberts Court have enabled him at every turn, rewriting the Constitution when necessary to accommodate Trump's lawlessness www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...
