There was a pub downtown that served the tastiest Reuben I have ever eaten. They closed down during the pandemic and I’m still kinda sad about that

Man, I stop paying attention to football for one season and everything gets flipped upside down

I’m a pirate!

*scrolls past ad for new dino zoo “I’ll wait for the reviews”

Seeing a few orgasm/cunnilingus posts popping up in my feed. Not sure why. I support and enjoy both, but come on guys

I get annoyed when characters seem to exist not for the story’s sake, but for the audience’s. They’re often, but not exclusively, comic relief characters who are ever present, but have no effect on the plot. Olaf in Frozen 1 and Hei Hei from Moana are two examples that immediately spring to mind

I think I’ve determined that when my cat follows me around meowing despite having food in his bowl, he is demanding I sit in my office chair so he can curl up in my lap

This fall I learned about gray catbirds after one knocked itself out against my window. I put on work gloves and went to check on it. It was fine. Perched on my hand for a couple of minutes to recover. Why are they called catbirds? Because they sound like cats! en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Gr...

I love to cook, but only because I love to eat good food. Cooking without being able to eat it after is just work

My 13 year-old is reading The Fellowship of the Ring and is asking me just so. Many. Questions! “Why does Gil-galad have dark hair?” “How many Durins are there?” “Is Angband in Angmar?” It’s been so long since I did a deep dive into Tolkien and he jumps in with a pop quiz every 15 minutes!

Over the last few decades there has been a major shift in companies focusing on profits at the expense of product quality and employee welfare. It’s not a new thing, but robber-barons treating employees as a cost to be minimized in order to make the line go up feels downright apocalyptic

Man, a lot has changed since I last had to do a job search. Every position I see on LinkedIn has more than 100 applicants, even one that was only posted 9 minutes ago? Don’t see how that site is even remotely useful anymore.

There was a nice bowling alley in my town with an arcade and laser tag. Great for kids parties or family night. After gambling was legalized, the arcade and laser tag were replaced with gambling machines. The bowling lanes followed shortly after. Nearest alley is 40 minutes away now.

I kind of appreciate how Elphaba had the Spawn thing going on with her cape

This site seems to be laboring under the misapprehension that I’m at all interested in wrestling, furries, or football

Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay was an unironically great game and it’s a shame we didn’t get more of them

I’m going to give Greg Abbott a pass on offering condolences to Carter’s already deceased wife. It’s a pleasant surprise that a goblin like him even bothered, and it’s not at all a surprise that his dumb ass didn’t know or think to check first.

Serious question. What do I do about all of these accounts reposting the same memes and images all day? I don’t disagree, and I don’t think they’re bots, but it’s annoying and cluttering up my feed

After seeing Wicked, I find I’m still annoyed by the trope that is still used in movies that everyone laughs at and makes fun of the kid who is different. Like a girl who is smart, confident, beautiful, and GREEN wouldn’t be the most popular kid in school, if not the entire country!

Finally saw Wicked last night and thought it was quite good. It was maybe 20 minutes too long as it felt like it started to drag a little just past the midway point, but picked up again to finish strong. Powerful performances by the leads. Interesting bit of Oz fan-fiction
