More from #AheadOfTheTrend: A handful of variables drive down the conspiracy index, such as race (white people are less conspiracy minded), education, and being male. There was only one variable that clearly drove up a belief in conspiracy theories — a respondent’s view of the Bible.

You can quickly compare religion rankings for geographic areas from the state, metro, and county levels on the ARDA. Reports are generated using data from the 1980–2020 U.S. Religion Censuses, ranking areas on the percent of all residents that are affiliated with a religious organization.

More from the latest #AheadOfTheTrend: The most evident conclusion from this survey was that people almost universally report that their interactions with chaplains were positive. Over 90% of respondents said that their chaplain was compassionate, a good listener, trustworthy, and knowledgeable.

Did you know the ARDA contains a college-level online course? Exploring Religion is divided into 15 sessions that allow students to explore religion through readings, interviews with social scientists, and guided exercises using data from the ARDA. The course is entirely virtual and free to use.
