Retired English teacher. I remain keenly interested in climate policy, and in those Americans who see a revolutionary imperative in the current planetary crisis. But for now I am far more concerned with resisting the fascist regime in Washington D.C.

When Trump rode down the golden escalator, saying “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best…” I’d heard all I needed to hear from that rich man. I’d spent hot summers working alongside Mexican-Americans in a Frito-Lay plant while putting myself through college.

For those like me who like their songs of protest or resistance plugged in and loud. Sometimes, that is. (I should be half deaf by now.) youtu.be/SKnRdQiH3-k?...

Of course, if the market tailspin continues, Trump will blame it on Biden. But ask yourself, if stock investors are so confident in his economic policies going forward, why would the market be selling off? www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

I’ve always appreciated Mavis Staples’ command of the gospel music genre. This upbeat song “Freedom Highway” is especially relevant in these times. You could almost see her at the forefront of a protest march while singing this anthem: youtu.be/LMYWAhVd_LM?...

Headline in today’s NY Post: “Trump celebrates his move to kill NYC congestion pricing: 'Long live the king!'” Hmm…a man who would crown himself might want to study the Great Seal of Virginia:

“Masses of enraged, terrified people are looking at the analog, slow-motion leadership of Democratic Senate leader Chuck Schumer and the zero-calorie rhetoric of House leader Hakeem Jeffries and want them replaced by people who know how to fight.” Ahem…AOC? www.thenation.com/article/poli...

Trump did not rule out sending US troops to secure Gaza. “As far as Gaza is concerned, we’ll do what is necessary. If it’s necessary, we’ll do that,” he said. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/f...

The time is ripe for some brave soul in Congress to break from the Democratic party, and lead the “palace revolt” that would replace craven leadership. The name of one Congressperson in particular has been frequently bandied about. And the response so far from that corner of Capitol Hill? Crickets…

The stock market futures are pointing to a selloff tomorrow, attributed to Trump’s tariffs. If I were a betting man, I’d wager that he’s about to be chastened by the financial markets, much as Bill Clinton was by the bond market.

“We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality — judiciously, as you will — we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out…

Songs of Resistance in honor of Black History Month. How I miss their Voices in these times… youtu.be/fPkM8F0sjSw?...

👇👂 Caveat: Consult your investment advisor for portfolio guidance. If what he fears comes to pass, are Democrats prepared to act in a way that spares the 99% the austerity of the last time around? I have thoughts, only thoughts… youtu.be/RlfvgEX4HQg?...
