John Lewis looks large as one of our nation's greatest champions of civil rights.   He fearlessly used his voice to challenge discrimination and prejudice.   On what would have been his 85th birthday, let’s honor his legacy and continue fighting against hate and injustice.

Today, NYS Comptroller, Thomas DiNapoli, and I worked to bring an Unclaimed Funds and Resource event to the residents of NYCHA Wyckoff and Gowanus Houses. Unclaimed funds are surprisingly common, and I will continue to help my constituents access all resources potentially available to them.

The vile display of Islamophobia at Masjid Nur-Al Islam in BK, from a coward hiding behind a MAGA hat and a facemask, is disgusting and has no place in NYC or anywhere. Everyone deserves to practice their faith without fear and intimidation. We must stand together, and reject hate of any kind.

It was wonderful celebrating the Lunar New Year with @newyorkstateag.bsky.social and NYS Comptroller, Thomas DiNapoli. It is always an honor to represent such a historic AAPI community in #NY10.

US airlines carry over 800M passengers annually. Elon Musk and Trump are purging the FAA as crashes rise under their watch. The federal gov’t isn’t a social media platform– Americans’ safety and livelihoods depend on it. When will Congressional R's stand up for American people?

The number of 9/11 first responders who’ve died from illness now exceeds the number of victims who died that day. Yet, Trump and Elon Musk cancelled vital research into cancers affecting first responders. Doge isn’t cutting waste, just programs Trump/Musk don’t care about.

While Rs watch an unelected billionaire take a hatchet to the federal government, Democrats are fighting for the people who will suffer. We're safeguarding the rule of law, protecting immigrants, and battling the funding freeze to ensure Americans get the support they depend on.

Less than 24 hours after taking office, the Trump admin dismantled the Office of Gun Violence Prevention. Protecting Americans' safety should never be a partisan issue. I’m proud to join @frost.house.gov in introducing legislation to restore this life-saving agency.

I joined New York Disaster Interfaith Services (NYDIS) for a tour of their new Clubhouse facility, which supports people with severe mental health issues. It was great to see how groups like NYDIS make care more accessible in NYC, and I'll keep working to ensure they get the resources they need.

Expanding mental health care access is critical for NYC community safety. I joined Governor Hochul and NY Presbyterian Hospital to discuss heath care approaches at the State and Federal level, including my Michelle Go Act, which would expand long-term care for people with severe mental illness.

My statement on Donald Trump's partisan attempt to cancel congestion pricing:

Public safety officers killed or injured because of their service should never be denied benefits. I introduced a bipartisan bill with Rep. Andy Barr to ensure families of officers who make the ultimate sacrifice aren’t denied support due to arbitrary retirement restrictions.

Today, I commemorated Black History Month at the African Burial Ground National Monument, sharing the important history of this sacred space. I was honored to join National Park Service, SDNY, and city and state agencies for an afternoon of Black History.

Today, I met with the leadership of Chung Pak LDC to discuss issues concerning the seniors who live there. It was great to meet with Sherman Eng and his team to see how we can strengthen the #NY10 Chinatown community.

After cutting future funding for the WTCHP, Trump and Elon Musk are again abandoning 9/11 survivors and first responders who sacrificed their health rebuilding NYC. This isn't cutting waste–it's disgracefully abandoning those who gave everything. NY House Rs must stand up.

The NIH is slashing $850M in funding for lifesaving medical research in New York. This is unacceptable. I led a bipartisan, bicameral letter with my NY colleagues to NIH acting director Matthew Memoli demanding an immediate reversal of this decision.

Today, the Senate will move the nomination of Kash Patel for FBI Director. While President Trump lets Elon Musk run wild grifting and slashing the federal government, Trump has been mainly focused on his revenge and retribution tour. Patel is *the* one he cares most about. Here’s why 🧵

You have no idea what those algorithms target. You have no idea what Elon Musk has determined to be fraud. Congress has the power of the purse, not an unelected billionaire holding the President hostage. You happily hand over your power to Elon because your party is incapable of doing your job.

This week, I stood up against Trump and his billionaire allies by backing legislation to protect #NY10 immigrant communities, urged the DOJ to investigate blatant ethics violations, and hosted a town hall to hear how my constituents are impacted by Trump’s EOs.

Rs pretend to care about cybersecurity while Trump ransacks our data and nominates a loyalist hatchet man to head FBI counterintelligence. Fighting for democracy means fighting the politicization of law enforcement. Senators must reject this unqualified, dangerous nominee.

I joined @repespaillat.bsky.social in introducing the Protecting Sensitive Locations Act to stop ICE raids in schools, hospitals, and other essential places. No one should fear ICE while seeking education or care. I’ll keep fighting to protect immigrant communities from this intimidation.

At Congress’s direction, FEMA reimbursed NYC for $80m of the billions spent on immigrants bused here from red states. As revenge, Trump is taking that money back. This is purely partisan retaliation —Trump is leveraging taxpayer money to punish those who stand up to him.

Trump's agenda is clear: illegally usurp power, install loyalists, exact revenge, and cater to billionaires at the American people's expense. From legislation to lawsuits, mobilizing to messaging and governors to mayors, Democrats are standing up to his authoritarian power grab.

Today marks Abraham Lincoln’s birthday—a fearless leader whose commitment to democracy and justice set the standard for American governance. His legacy reminds us of the importance of unity, equality, and confronting those who seek to undermine our free, democratic society.

Chairman Jim Jordan says the press—not Congress—is the "guardrail" on Elon Musk’s government takeover. Nobody, including Trump, has any idea what Musk is doing. Yet the GOP majority is happy to take Musk’s word for it….even though Musk doesn’t even take his own word for it.

The ethics violations at DOJ are mind-blowing. DC's USA attended J6, represented a J6 rioter, then dismissed his case. The Deputy AG is Trump's former lawyer. He's purging the same officials who prosecuted him. I demanded the DOJ IG investigate these conflicts of interest.

116 years ago, the NAACP was created, a pivotal moment in the fight for civil rights, justice, and racial equality. Their vital work continues to inspire progress and is needed now more than ever. I look forward to continuing to work with them to combat hate of all kinds.

I hosted a virtual town hall to hear from #NY10 constituents and discuss my work combating Trump’s chaotic barrage of EOs. I will tirelessly fight in NY and DC to oppose the Trump Admin's harm and challenge their unlawful directives. Watch below:

Elon Musk and Project 2025 author Russ Vought are dismantling the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, a consumer watchdog that's returned $21B to Americans. Trump is making government more hostile and costly, not efficient. Ds are working to stop their lawless grift.

This week, I fought back against Trump and his billionaire patron, Elon Musk, for illegally slashing the federal government to pad their pockets. We must stop their takeover of the federal government, and I'm proud to fight on behalf of the people of #NY10.

I am receiving reports that immigration officers are randomly targeting Hispanic and AAPI New Yorkers—including US citizens—and in some cases detaining them. This is unacceptable. Know Your Rights! goldman.house.gov/services/kno...

Today I had the privilege of speaking at Homecrest Community Services' Lunar New Year Celebration. While we miss our friend Don Lee, I’m thankful for the incredible community organization he left behind that does so much to serve the AAPI community across #NY10 and our city.

Trump has issued EO's impacting nonprofit funding, education, citizenship, immigration, health care, LGBTQ+ rights, federal employment, and more. Click the link below to share how you’ve been impacted by Trump's actions so we can advocate for you in DC. goldman.house.gov/share-your-s...

We are a nation of laws, no matter what unelected billionaires think. I applaud AG James for swiftly filing a lawsuit to stop DOGE from illegally accessing Americans' data. As Trump tries to usurp power and Rs give him theirs, Dems are determined to protect Americans.

I joined Congressman Beyer in urging the NIH Acting Director to resist EOs that jeopardize public health and disrupt lifesaving research. These delays cost lives, harm innovation, and disproportionately impact critical research and delivery of care at the nation’s hospitals and universities.

I joined Homeland Security Committee Democrats in condemning DOGE's unprecedented, unauthorized access to sensitive government data. This lawlessness threatens national security. We must enforce data privacy laws to keep Americans’ information secure. Right now, they're not being followed.

Every New Yorker has rights when they interact with immigration enforcement. No matter what the next four years bring, stay informed, stay safe, and stay together. goldman.house.gov/services/kno...

32 years ago, President Clinton signed the Family & Medical Leave Act, securing protected leave for family or medical reasons. As Trump weakens labor protections, the FMLA safeguards workers balancing work and family. We must expand coverage so Americans can care for their loved ones.
