Our next Black History Month spotlight is the late Charles Blockson. Born in 1933 in Norristown, Charles Blockson was a prolific writer, collector, scholar, and activist. He dedicated his life to the preservation of African American history and donated his collection to Temple University. I was d…

The Resilience Resource Center in Huntingdon Valley serves as a safe space for LGBTQ+ youth and their families — and offers free mental health services and career skills training! The work they do is crucial, and I'm eager to help RRC expand their services in any way I can.

After the Administration met with Russian officials in Riyadh, President Trump has made the false and dangerous claim that Ukraine began the war with Russia. This language is reprehensible. My full statement:

Elon Musk, an unelected billionaire, is once again trying to steal Americans’ most sensitive data. President Trump continues to allow Musk unfettered access — this time jeopardizing your hard-earned Social Security benefits.

The TAKE IT DOWN Act has passed the Senate again. The House version, led by me and Rep. Maria Salazar, needs to be next before it can go to the President's desk. In a world of emerging technology, lawmakers must meet this moment. We must protect Americans' privacy and dignity.

From celebrating the City of Brotherly Love to celebrating our family’s love! Happy Valentine’s Day to my forever valentine, PJ. ♥️

We’re bleeding green for today’s Black History Month spotlight! In 1952, halfbacks Ron Goldston and Don Stevens became the first Black players on the Philadelphia Eagles. Goldston was an Eagle for four years while Stevens played for Philly in ’52 and ’54. Fly, Eagles Fly. 🦅

Happy Galentine's Day 💕 I'm lucky enough to have gal pals like Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon — I hope everyone has a great time celebrating the amazing women in their lives!

Many of the Trump Administration's unlawful, unconstitutional actions are being challenged in court. Democrats are fighting back — Here's a legal update on where those lawsuits stand.

Sharing someone else's private images online, without consent, causes grave harm. Yet gaps in federal law hinder prosecution of this predatory behavior. Our bipartisan SHIELD Act would help protect the online privacy and dignity of the American people.

Community, technical, and junior colleges offer students affordable pathways to success. President Trump’s goal to abolish the Ed Department will jeopardize their future. I was grateful to meet with the Association of Community College Trustees at this crucial time.

Let's be clear — Donald Trump wants to cut groundbreaking research funding to cure and treat cancer, Alzheimer's, infertility, and dozens of other diseases.

Marc Fogel is coming home.   After more than three years wrongfully detained in Russia — after an unwavering fight from his family, friends, and Pennsylvanians — Marc is being released.   I’m thinking of his loved ones and praying for his safe journey home, and for healing in his homecoming.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ensures banks, credit card companies, and credit reporting agencies can't take advantage of people. 🧵

The University of Pennsylvania isn’t just a leader in higher education — it’s home to an innovative research program. With projects like cancer research, Penn is on the forefront of our country’s most groundbreaking science. Thank you to UPenn Interim President Dr. Jameson, for providing me with …

The mood going into today...

Studying up for tomorrow.

Happy Friday. Go Birds.

February is Black History Month! To honor trailblazers and change-makers who have shaped our history and culture, we’re spotlighting a Black History-Maker every Friday. Our first choice was easy — Beyoncé.

Reminder: This is not normal, and we must continue to call it out. Thank you to everyone using their voices to fight back — here in D.C., back home in PA, and all over the country.

Announcing huge tariffs on our closest allies, then instituting a temporary pause at the 11th hour is no way to lead. If Trump's tariffs go into effect, prices skyrocket — at a time when Americans already feel financial strain. The tariffs are nonsensical — and the inconsistency is irresponsible.

When I say I'm doing everything in my power to push back against President Trump and Elon Musk's destructive agenda, I mean it — that includes pushing legislation, supporting judicial action, and showing up.

Great to see La Salle University President, Dr. Dan Allen, in D.C. yesterday! Our region is home to world class universities, and it's essential we expand students' access to them. Hopefully my bias toward my alma mater (and old workplace!) doesn't show too much when I say: Go Explorers! 💙💛

Our offices have been hearing from many residents the past two weeks. Please join me for a Telephone Town Hall *TOMORROW* and bring your questions!

President Trump has tapped Musk to bleed the Department of Education dry — hurting teachers and students.    Even more alarming, Musk now has access to sensitive data of those enrolled in federal student aid programs.

So many veterans rely on the Philly and Coatesville VA Medical Centers for care. The Trump Administration’s federal hiring freeze must not disrupt their services, including PACT Act benefits. That’s why we are seeking clarity on impacts to our region and PA vets.

At a time when cost of living is too high and grocery costs are up 28% over the past five years, President Trump is imposing price hikes on some of our closest trade partners. My full statement:

I know many of you share my concerns about Elon Musk's access to Americans' sensitive data at the U.S. Treasury — and his attempt to gut USAID's life-saving work. My full statement:

Shocked and distressed about the small plane crash in Northeast Philly — and devastated to learn of lives lost. Thank you to first responders — Police, Fire, PGW, and more — who are so bravely helping. Praying for our neighboring community while we learn more about this horrific accident.

Thank you to everyone who voiced their concerns over the Trump Admin's funding freeze that would have hurt families, seniors, and veterans.   While a judge blocked the freeze for now — this will not be this Admin's last attempt to cut critical resources.   I will keep fighting.

My heart and prayers are with the families and victims of the collision over the Potomac River last night.

Happy Lunar New Year! May this Year of the Snake bring wisdom, light, and renewal. ✨

My office has heard from concerned Pennsylvanians all day, who fear how the Trump's Administration's unlawful federal funding freeze will affect them. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I am determined to support PA families in any way I can.

Never forget is a promise to remember the six million Jews murdered in the unspeakable horrors of the Holocaust — and a pledge to fight antisemitism and hate, especially as they’re disturbingly on the rise.   We must never forget, so that we never repeat.   May their memories be a blessing.

After 15 months in captivity — in pain, fear, and horror — Israeli hostages are coming home. In this time, I’ve had the heartwrenching privilege of meeting with many of their families. We must see this bilateral ceasefire through. We must ensure all loved ones return home. https://loom.ly/L5Dymq…

Today we observe the life, work, and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Let us honor his courage—to stand up in the face of injustice and advocate for civil rights for all. His legacy lives on—in the extraordinary advances we have made thus far, and in the diligent work yet to be done.

Disaster relief is a lifeline, and it's our duty as lawmakers to ensure that lifeline is available to all who need it. No matter which state they're from, survivors of natural disasters must be able to rebuild. We must fully fund FEMA — without strings attached. https://youtu.be/I96VGaiTFpM
