Public lands and public access to our forests, rivers, grasslands, and deserts is a unique American experience that we must continue to fight for and that we cannot take for granted.

Today, I announced the first-ever bipartisan Public Lands Caucus. Growing up fishing New Mexico's rivers taught me the importance of protecting our lands, waters, and wildlife.

Chatting with @carolinegleich.bsky.social this morning to discuss the launch of my new Public Lands Caucus, check it out here: www.youtube.com/live/75gzOWK...

Housing is one of the biggest challenges that we face, especially in places like Alamogordo & Las Cruces, NM. If folks don't have a safe, affordable place to live, it impacts not only their well being, but their ability to do their jobs & that affects our readiness as a nation.

I joined students from the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities to talk about what it takes to expand opportunity for Latino students. Higher education changed my life, and I’m committed to making sure every young person—no matter their background—has the same chance to succeed.

Today is MMIW Day - a day of awareness for missing and murdered Indigenous women. In NM, I strongly support the new Turquoise Alert system, meant to quickly mobilize community resources to find missing persons from Tribal communities.

Today is #WildfirePrepDay2025 - Visit nfpa.org/wildfireprepday for information on how to protect yourself and your neighbors ahead of wildfire season.

🎨Congratulations to Troy Ainsworth from Organ Mountain High School in Las Cruces for winning this year’s Congressional Art Competition for NM02! His piece, “Age-old Rivals,” will hang in the U.S. Capitol for all to see. Proud to uplift young artists and celebrate the creative talent in our district!

As someone who grew up hiking, hunting, and fishing on New Mexico’s public lands, I know these places are central to who we are — and to the strength of our economies.

I just reintroduced the M.H. Dutch Salmon Greater Gila Wild and Scenic River Act! Thank you to the entire Gila Wild & Scenic Coalition for your years of hard work in protecting the Gila River. This bill protects our communities, our cultures, and the future of New Mexico’s last wild river.

Federal funding cuts are hurting access to critical care, and I heard that firsthand from the Presbyterian Medical Services’ health center in Deming. Clinics like this one are essential for families across New Mexico. Thank you to the healthcare providers who show up for our community every day.

I visited Saucedo’s Supermarket in Lordsburg to stand with a business that keeps its community fed. When their ability to accept SNAP was at risk, I stepped in so there was no interruption. In rural areas, losing a grocery store means families go hungry, and I’ll do everything I can to prevent that.

It was an honor to meet with veterans in Silver City for a roundtable discussion. I’m grateful for their service and for their real, honest feedback on how policies from Washington are impacting them here in New Mexico.

💰Mr. Aguilar was waiting on his $10,149 tax refund for three years, causing him financial hardship. My office stepped in, and seven days later, his refund was granted. Helping NM families get what they’re owed is what we do. Need help? Reach out to our office.

I fought back when critical support for New Mexican manufacturers was cut, and WON. The Manufacturing Extension Partnership, which supports over 100 NM small businesses, will continue. I’ll always put New Mexicans first.

Pope Francis challenged the world to lead with compassion, protect the most vulnerable, and care for creation. His passing is a deep loss — but his message lives on in all of us who believe in justice, dignity, and love for our neighbors. May his holiness rest in peace.

It was a pleasure to speak with the Wildcats at Deming High School and answer questions as they embark on the next phase of their education and careers. I’ve got their back and want them to live healthy, productive lives and most importantly, stay in New Mexico and contribute to our beautiful state.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our town hall in Las Cruces last night! Hearing directly from New Mexicans is crucial to my work, and I appreciate every tough question and genuine conversation about our future. I am honored to serve you.

A legal U.S. resident was ripped from his family and sent to a foreign prison—without proper due process. If it can happen to Mr. Abrego Garcia, it can happen to anyone. The Supreme Court says his deportation was wrong. Now it’s time to bring him home.

Immigrant detention facilities must meet the basic standards of care for human beings. I’m joining my colleagues to demand that Homeland Security restore its critical oversight functions of detention centers like those in New Mexico.

Tax Day is almost here—make sure you’ve filed and claimed every deduction you’re owed. You deserve to keep your hard earned money. If you need assistance with an IRS claim, contact our office.

New Mexico’s outdoor economy creates sustainable jobs and strengthens small towns and rural communities. We must protect our public lands along with the economic futures of the communities and businesses tied to them.

Tax season is here, and I’m working to ensure NM families get the tax relief they’ve earned. This week, I’m introducing a package of bills to counter tariffs, help veterans, and boost the middle class.

Proud to welcome Rubye, Jonethan, and Raj from Carlsbad High — winners of the 2024 Congressional App Challenge for New Mexico’s Second District! Their app, Flip Side, is a powerful tool designed to help survivors of domestic violence access support and resources. Congratulations!

We’re hitting the road! I'm hosting town halls in Las Cruces (April 15) and Silver City (April 16) to hear directly from YOU. Got questions? Concerns? Ideas for the future of New Mexico? Let’s talk.

Cutting snap by $230B in exchange for tax giveaways for the wealth would do irreparable harm to rural communities and colonias across my district.

Today, I stood up for New Mexico families on SNAP during a House Agriculture Committee hearing. We must protect this vital program that ensures access to nutritious food for those in need.

✅ When a constituent’s work authorization card had an error, USCIS delays made fixing it a nightmare. My office stepped in and quickly got them a new, corrected card! If you’re facing issues with immigration paperwork, we’re here to help!

Americans are furious their retirement accounts are going up in smoke and their college savings accounts are being wiped out — the President's reckless disregard for our economy and the middle class is beyond comprehension.

My response to Republican leadership considering proposals to sell our public lands to the highest bidder:

Using military bases for migrant detention takes resources away from the real mission — protecting national security and stopping fentanyl at the border. We should be investing in security, not taking resources from our troops.

Tariffs will make everything more expensive for New Mexicans.

Today, I spoke with CHCI fellows about the urgent need to expand retirement security for Latino workers. Too many are shut out of savings plans, leaving them vulnerable in their later years. We must build a future where every worker can retire with dignity.

I’m voting against the SAVE Act because it would disenfranchise Native voters, active-duty service members, and married women. This bill is dangerous, unnecessary, and un-American.

I am honored to be named to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors. Our military academies shape the future of our armed forces, and I’m committed to ensuring they provide the best opportunities for our service members.

I’m an original co-sponsor of the bipartisan Hot Foods Act, because in rural communities and food deserts, hot foods are often all that’s available and it makes it easier to feed a hungry child.

Conservation on private lands is important - that’s why producers need support to help connect all of our landscapes with sustainable range and land management. I’m co-sponsoring the TSP Access Act to do just that.

Tariffs on ag products mean higher costs for farmers and ranchers. I joined @repangiecraig.bsky.social & House Ag colleagues in demanding answers from the Commerce Dept. on how they'll protect America's agriculture industry.

Seniors in rural New Mexico shouldn’t have to drive hours or wait endlessly on the phone for basic Social Security services, which they’ve earned. I joined hundreds of my colleagues to demand answers regarding the Trump administration’s gutting of SSA staff and closing local offices. Unacceptable.

My statement on Trump officials’ national security breach.

Three important pieces of federal legislation that I have introduced to help support public safety, and in particular gun safety and gun violence. 1️⃣ One is Ethan's law, which which would require and maintain safe storage of firearms across the country.

In response to Friday’s mass shooting in Las Cruces, we need real solutions, we need honest conversations, and above all, we need unity because our community is hurting. Healing requires all of us.

Mental health resources after mass violence ⤵️

I am deeply saddened by the news of a mass shooting in Las Cruces overnight. I will continue to work closely with local enforcement to bring those responsible to justice. My prayers are with the victims and their families. abcnews.go.com/US/new-mexic...
