Thank you to everyone who joined us for our February Town Hall in St. Louis Park! And a special thank you to Representative Larry Kraft, St. Louis Park Mayor Nadia Mohamed & City Councilmembers Sue Budd & Paul Baudhuin for joining me last night and for your partnership in serving our communities.

I was honored to present former Fridley Mayor Scott Lund with a Congressional Record in honor of his nearly five decades of service to the Fridley community. Thank you for your tireless work in making Fridley a safe, vibrant, and welcoming place to live.

Joyce Uptown Food Shelf, Minneapolis’s oldest food shelf, provides crucial nutrition assistance to our communities. I sat down with Food Shelf Director Matthew Ayres to discuss how I can best support them at the federal level as they anticipate increased demands for food distribution in 2025.

Tubman is an amazing organization that provides services like shelter, legal services & more to those in our community who need help most. Today I toured Tubman's Chrysalis Center & met with their leadership to learn how I can support their mission of safety, hope and healing at the federal level.

I hosted a Black Women’s Heart Health Panel with Hennepin County Commissioner Angela Conley and other experts to highlight their amazing work in our district on cardiovascular health awareness 6 equity. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the US, especially for Black women.

I stopped by the Minnesota African American Heritage Museum and Gallery to visit their new exhibit for Black History Month, “The Black Vote.” This incredible exhibit explores Black Americans’ fight for their hard-earned right to vote in Minnesota.

Honored to present a Congressional Record to John Croman in honor of his career as a political reporter for over 20 years with KARE 11. Thank you for your dedication to bringing Minnesotans reliable, informative, and timely news.

I started my day with Robbinsdale Mayor Brad Sutton at Bean There Coffee Shoppe. We talked about the important ways that we can work together to support our shared constituents through federal funding, advocacy, and casework.

Under Biden, these abusive fees were capped at $5. The Trump administration wants to strip away protections so financial giants can continue this predatory tax. This is what happens when billionaires and their bought-and-paid-for politicians run the show. www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

During Black History Month, and every month, I’m incredibly grateful for the leadership and support from Black community leaders across our state. I’m proud to work alongside them to build the bright future our communities deserve.

I met with Sharon Smith, the founder of the People of Color Career Fair, in Minneapolis to discuss how we can continue to prioritize building diverse and inclusive workspaces, especially as we face the Trump Administration’s attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Donald Trump shut off funding for dozens of Head Start programs across the country. I visited the PICA Head Start Training Center in Minneapolis to hear firsthand from educators on ways the federal funding cuts would impact students across our state.

Here's what is at stake for Minnesotans because of Trump's cuts to federal funding:   -$150 million for critical research at the University of Minnesota -$70 million in commodities from farm operations -nearly 35,000 jobs of federal workers   We cannot let his illegal actions take effect.

Congratulations to Lutunji Abram for making it to the top 15 of Entrepreneurs of Impact! I had the great pleasure of visiting her bakery, Lutunji’s Palate, in 2023 and am so proud to hear Lutunji is being recognized for her hard work.

Looking for something fun to do with your significant other this Valentine’s weekend? Check out these Black-owned Businesses in Minnesota! www.startribune.com/black-owned-...

I’m celebrating this Valentine’s Day by leading with radical love as we fight for the bold policies our communities need. 💕

I joined the Minnesota Delegation today to discuss our shared priorities for the 119th Congress and ensure we're doing everything in our power to strengthen our North Star state.

I'm currently in a Budget Committee markup. This is what Republicans want to do: ❌ Slash $880 billion from Medicaid ❌ Cut $230 billion from food assistance ❌ Hand $4.5 trillion in tax breaks to billionaires & big corporations This is a Republican rip off.

I’m honored to serve as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Workforce Protections. Workers deserve the world. I’m ready to stand with workers and fight back against efforts by Donald Trump and Elon Musk to undermine workers’ rights.

Trump’s plan to slash research funding would wipe out $150 million from the University of Minnesota's budget, killing jobs and crippling innovation. Trump and his allies want to defund public research so private corporations can profit off of life-saving medical breakthroughs.

From Luminary Loppet on Lake of the Isles to Art Shanties on Lake Harriet, #MN05 has some of the best winter activities. How are you finding joy this winter?❄️

CFPB has fought against predatory banks, shady student loan lenders, and payday loan sharks. The agency has saved consumers more than $20B. Now, Trump’s cronies are gutting it from the inside to make it easier for Wall Street to cheat you out of your savings. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

I’m hosting my February town hall in St. Louis Park on February 20 at 6pm CT. I hope you can join me to connect and discuss the issues facing our community. This event is free and open to the public. Click on the link below to register! ⬇️ www.eventbrite.com/e/rep-omars-...

Here’s what I’ve been up to this week in Washington (Feb 3-7) I ran for Congress on a promise of cogovernance and to uphold my commitment, I’d like to share the work I’ve been doing during my time in DC.

Ludy is a pillar of the southside, I was thrilled to visit him at his boxing gym in the summer of 2023. My team & I are wishing him our very best as he gears up for his next big fight! 🥊

Elon Musk wasn’t elected by the American people.  He has no business accessing our government’s payment systems. Our democracy will not be at the mercy of a billionaire who thinks rules don’t apply to him.

Elon Musk, an unelected, unappointed billionaire, is illegally trying to take away critical humanitarian funding from the poorest people around the world – funding that Congress has already appropriated, and cannot be reappropriated. There is no reason he should be allowed to make these decisions.

This month we celebrate Black History as American history. Hateful attacks to programs of diversity, equity, and inclusion cannot erase the resilience, resistance and progress our communities have made in shaping our nation — and will continue to make as we work towards a more equitable future.

Elon Musk, an unelected billionaire, is wasting no time in abusing the influence he bought with $290 million by eliminating USAID, a program that's saved millions of lives. Real people who depend on this critical aid to access food, shelter, and medical care will die because of this decision.

Here’s what I’ve been up to this week in Minnesota (Jan 27-31): repilhanomar.medium.com/district-wor...

I had a productive meeting with Major General Joseph Ricciardi of the US Army Reserves 88th Readiness Division in my district office. We discussed ways we can work to ensure our nation’s servicemembers have access to the benefits and support they deserve.

Islamophobia is on the rise and the U.S. must take action. Senator Booker, Rep. Schakowsky, and I are reintroducing the Combating International Islamophobia Act to create a Special Envoy at the State Department dedicated to fighting this dangerous hate. muslimgirl.com/exclusive-co...

I convened community leaders, state & local officials to emphasize the impact of the Trump Admin's federal funding freeze on Minnesotans. This freeze would gut nutrition assistance programs & bring medical research & coverage to a halt. We will not stand by & let these illegal actions take effect.

I joined MN State Rep. Sydney Jordan for a visit to Niron Magnetics in Minneapolis where we recognized a tax credit of over $52 million secured through the Inflation Reduction Act. Niron Magnetics will use this tax credit to expand its workforce in Minnesota, creating over 100 union jobs.
