The database that is most invulnerable to data breaches is an empty data base. Withholding data from users is probably the strongest practice to prevent data misuse. Ridiculous examples, but strong security practices don't have to disempower users. #DataGovernance #OvercomingFUD

Public. Data. Repositories. Research data should be uploaded to data repos where researchers can't (understandably) lose it and which don't have an incentive to magically misplace it (like journals, funders, and unis) Zenodo, OSF, & figshare all have private options so embargo isn't a valid excuse
