This morning in church we prayed over Micah, who is having his surgery tomorrow! Please read this update and consider helping as their costs are increasing unexpectedly. And join us in praying for a successful surgery! gofund.me/94a0b66e

Love this line from The Chosen, Jesus speaking to Simon about Matthew: “He’s no more a tax collector than you are a zealot.” Knowing Jesus redefines our identity. We are disciples, beloved, children of God.

“What kind of Jesus are we proclaiming when our refusal to hold predators accountable tells survivors they must carry the weight of both their sin and the sin of those who did shameful things to them?” My piece in CT, reflecting on the death of a survivor. www.christianitytoday.com/2025/05/sbc-...

Duane Rollins's testimony and case against Southern Baptist judge Paul Pressler changed the trajectory of the abuse crisis. Fellow survivor @revchrisdavis.bsky.social reflects on Rollins's legacy and the weight he shouldn't have been left to carry: www.christianitytoday.com/2025/05/sbc-...

Duane Rollins died on Friday, May 23. His life testified to the cost of abuse. “I never met him,” writes @revchrisdavis.bsky.social, “but his story met me when I needed to know I wasn’t crazy and I wasn’t alone.”

What goes into the decision-making process of whether a Robert will be called Rob or Bob?

My own grooming experience happened in the 1980s. The school board member who reached out so promptly after I wrote my essay did so in the 1990s. We have learned so much more about prevention, care and accountability since then. religionnews.com/2025/05/27/p...

Same!

Good morning from our dogwood blossoms!

Any animal experts out there know what kind of noises these are?

My dad died 7 years ago today. It gets some easier but you never stop missing those who loved you so proactively.

In 1956 an all-white Southern Baptist church in Alexandria, VA began a ministry to students with special needs. 20 years later, that would bring an African-American family to the church where their brother with Down Syndrome could be welcomed. 1/3

My movie guy. What an extraordinary film. 5/5 #MissionImpossible

I’m a huge fan of the Mission Impossible franchise and thought that The Final Reckoning is perfect.

Huge storm knocked out the power and even cell coverage at the house. We discovered that books require no electricity and reading out loud is a great way to spend an evening!

Wow, this review really says it all.

“Not only do I get more money playing here, but I live like a king. I've found freedom and democracy here, something I never found in the United States. Here in Mexico, I am a man.” — Willie Wells, 1932

Is it just me or did Grover Cleveland Alexander have a Lynchian look to him?

Mother’s Day can be painful and sorrowful for a variety of reasons. I hope you find comfort in knowing you are not alone if that is your story. And it reminds me how much I have to be grateful for that this lady is my mother and nurtured me with such care. Happy Mother’s Day!
