Still smiling at the thought of someone in 2025 passing on a game from 1989 and thinking "Hang on, my old maps might be spoilers, I don't want to ruin the experience for them" :D

I already mentioned Mel's work. Here's what you can achieve with these great models. You should follow Mel's account, especially after taking the risk of leaving X and the following that went with it. And therefore sales. And @melminiatures.bsky.social allows us to see the ships from every angle!

I sometimes thinking about this Canon ad with Godzilla at a copy machine when I’m feeling sad

Now that Nintendo is embracing the "classic mario" aesthetic, more YouTubers need to become familiar with the names Yoichi Kotabe and Shigehisa Nakaue. Kotabe solidified the 2D Mario look in the late 80s and early 90s, and Nakaue has been carrying that torch in newer games.

Max was advertised as computer-generated, & some believed it, but he was actually Matt Frewer wearing prosthetic makeup, contact lenses, & a plastic molded suit in front of a blue screen. Graphics were created by a top-of-the-line 1987 computer, a Commodore Amiga. Last appearance was in Pixels 2015.

Kimimi is directly responsible for convincing I could, in fact, handle arcade PCBs and not burn my apartment down. It takes a little research, but for a lot of games, the process is more similar to plugging in a console than you might realize. Definitely read her guide if you're interested. 😌

"By the year 2005, every home will have an NDR 114..." Bicentennial Man was released on this day, back in 1999. youtu.be/yfDlQ-Q12rg?...

Oh, this is really interesting. I'd absolutely be willing to comp a bunch of paid subscriptions for libraries (and the people who use them) if that was possible. Now I'm curious if there's a way to make this happen.

An ad for the legendary Mile High Comics from 2000. Note the 'Amazon zSHOPS' reference. That was Amazon's first attempt at letting other sellers sell on their platform.

RIP, David Lynch. Truly one of the great weirdoes in film and television history.

Sorting through some old gaming news. 25 years ago, Nvidia stock had a boost due to Xbox news. It was less than a dollar back then.

Instantly taken back to my childhood. I had both of these Rambo coloring books, ha!

Dated this very day in 1972, the 48th issue of the UK’s weekly “Countdown For TV Action”, with its cover featuring the fabulously bold & disconcerting art of John Burns.
