I’ve become a real advocate for “earthing” or “grounding” to relieve some health conditions. Google it and try for yourself. Do you also notice positive changes???

It’s that time of year again. Glühwein & Bratwurst…. that is the German Christmas market. My Christmas market haiku: Snow falls soft and light, Laughter echoes through the stalls, Christmas dreams take flight.

I never made the mistake of being part of twitter or X, but decided to join Blue sky due to all the positive comments I have seen. Glad I did!

“Lüften” is a German verb meaning to ventilate or to air out. Germans value fresh air and typically open their windows for a short period during the day to air out their homes and to allow fresh air in. Even in the dead of winter. Most Germans sleep with their window cracked open while sleeping.

I had to have my favourite pizza today at the best pizza restaurant in our town. It’s a five cheese, white pizza drizzled with honey and walnuts. La bomba. Sehr lecker. ¡Qué rica está!

I went to a new Vietnamese restaurant that specialises in Sushi. The presentation was just as fabulous as the food itself.

As this is my last work year I volunteered to put together the calendar for our teachers’ lounge this year. I put it up today. Each teacher will open one to find a few sweets as well as a task to accomplish before the Christmas break. Typical task: bring Christmas cookies for your colleagues, etc.

One of my favourite off-season destinations…. Sitges, Spain. Just a 30 minute train ride from Barcelona’s airport, this small town direct on the Mediterranean boast a wide assortment of beaches, bars and nightlife for people of all ages and lifestyles. It’s my home away from home.

Here is a quiche I made after having one in Rostock, Germany. It is made with quiche dough, 6 eggs, 2 pieces of Italian sausage, Gouda cheese, 4 chopped scallions, salt and pepper. I garnished it with dried Chilis as well as dried, edible flowers. It only took about 20 minutes to prepare.
