My morning coffee view. The lobby of Gallup's El Rancho Hotel is a pure time warp. #Route66

"I Like Ike!" aside from, y'know, the whole Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956 thing. It's a beauty, anyway! Historic Route 66

Gallup!

Yes I said haricot vert like it was spelled and regardless of my regret I won't remember next time either.

I didn't forget! Route 66 in Winona, AZ.

Dusk in Seligman, Arizona.

Incredible progress at the John Osterman Station in Peach Springs over the last week! It's being returned to its original Shell colors as the building is restored. #Route66

There's a spot along Historic Route 66 between Seligman and Peach Springs AZ that is the darkest shade on Dark Sky Map. I drove out there, pulled over, turned the car off, and sat for a while... looking up in wonder. Took this four minute time lapse too.

When I see an episode of Columbo is on the motel TV

Happy Birthday, Angel Delgadillo! The "Guardian Angel" of Route 66 turns 98 today. It also would've been artist Bob Waldmire's 80th birthday. Celebrating both of these figures in Seligman, Arizona today.

@darthbluesky.bsky.social reshared one of my posts so now I must share Rex, them's the rules.

Progress at the Osterman Station in Peach Springs, AZ! We're having a Community Day tomorrow from 10 to 4. If you're in the area, come out and see what the National Trust is helping with and be a part of the restoration efforts! #Route66

"That's not...entirely... accurate."

Sunset at the Wigwam - Holbrook Arizona

Great to see so much representation of the Oklahoma State Capitol today for Route 66 day!

Beautiful new sign in Vinita, Oklahoma - part of the @oklahomaroute66.com neon project! #Route66

Celebrating Andy Payne this morning in Claremore! I'm happy to report that the Fun Run did not lead to my demise. If I'd done the 5K this probably would be a memorial post.

Friday night bliss

The Goodwill facility on Tulsa's Route 66 corridor was one of the early new neon signs built in the revitalization era. In fact, it was used as an example of what was possible when people leaned into the kitsch and identity of the road. Well, they have a new sign now, and it's a beaut!

I snuck a photo with the big ol' Oklahoma sign before the Main Street Now conference plenary.

Hey look at that, blue sky.

Great work, Joplin! This new mural celebrates the history and heritage of the Route 66 corridor in the Tri-State area here.

Some detail of the St. Cloud Hotel building in Chandler, OK - on the National Register but currently in discussion for demolition due instability thanks to severe storm damage. Can't quite tell from this photo but the roof and part of the back was ripped off.

The new neon sign in Luther - where the Mustang rolled over 230,000 miles today. #Route66

"We only have the ingredients of a tornado watch and not the taco of a warning." -- my lovely wife, who must never change.

Lucy van Pelt has finally gone too far. But she will be brought to justice

Me: Monday morning, time to get to work! I certainly don't have time for decades-old meme brainworms. My brain: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfSG...
