Watching this now on the Zoom livestream, available here! wolfhumanities.upenn.edu/events/keywo...

Okay my body chose violence* today and unfortunately I can't lounge about watching TV and the news is... the news... so I'm going to try to talk a bit about my book (I wrote a book! It's real! It's out soon!) - and just why people think about the Roman empire so very, very often. *ME/CFS flare-up

Femmephobia - "the repudiation of self-consciously artificial femininity...which (in feminism) goes all the way back to Mary Wollstonecraft" Would v much attend a conference on how Romantic-era radical distinctions between the artificial and authentic have been open to reactionary use

Terrible news out of Bangor University. Management seeking to save £15m, up to 200 posts to go. They’re not proposing compulsory redundancy at this stage, which is of some comfort, but this remains a heavy blow for us.

I'm delighted to be speaking at Treadwell's Books in London on 20 March about Pagan revivals through history. www.treadwells-london.com/events-1/pag...

Apropos of absolutely nothing, a commemorative Welsh mug on the occasion of the beheading of Louis XVI

'Pan roddo'r dyn hwnnw...rhyw gap ddigrifol am ei ben...mi fydd yr holl blant yn dechreu galw ar eu gilydd, ac yn dweud "Dowch Dowch, i wrando, daccw'r ffwl ar y daflod." Er nad oes fodd i roi dim dysg, na dawn, na gwybodaeth, yn y tegan a elwir yn goron' Jack Glan-y-Gors (1795)

It's done! Just sent the manuscript of Fairies: A History to my publisher - hitting in 2026! 🧚‍♀️🪄📚

The Minister knows full-well that the funding model for universities is totally broken. She and her Welsh Govt colleagues have the power to address this but are currently choosing not to - despite £1.2B+ a year of HigherEd related spending... 1/2 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

If "Judeo-Christian" was a thing (which it isn't), the only reason for it not to be "Judeo-Christian-Islamic" is racism.

Welsh government have found an additonal £19m for HE. It isn’t enough, and comes with conditions, but it definitely helps. This is thanks to the hard work done by UCU Cymru, massive thanks to all the members who have pushed, as well as our amazing staff. www.gov.wales/19-million-s...

Nid yw Cymru ar log

Guys, i’ve got some news…
