Ethan Nwaneri. Last night was the second time in his past three appearances that he has completed five or more dribbles. He is the first 17-year-old to do so in multiple matches in a Premier League season since Raheem Sterling for Liverpool in 2012-13.

Would expect Liverpool to win the UCL now. With the league wrapped up, out of the FA Cup and with the League Cup final next month, they can fully focus on UCL. With these factors, I think it would be a disappointment if they didn’t secure UCL #7 this season

In dismissing the Africa Cup of Nations' status as a 'major tournament', Jamie Carragher reflected a wider issue of how the competition is regarded in football. @jaydmharris.bsky.social explains why there should be no doubting AFCON's importance. www.nytimes.com/athletic/615...

Good strikerless system from Slot yesterday. Haaland remains an outlier, otherwise the evidence from recent years is that you don't need a proper No9 to win the league (well, one as a back-up is useful) www.nytimes.com/athletic/615...

Eddie Howe stressed that, with patience, Lewis Hall would become a top player. He was right. Hall has replaced Trippier’s creativity and brings so much out of Gordon with his underlaps. Involved in all 4 goals v Forest yesterday. Give him his flowers. www.nytimes.com/athletic/615...

Southampton, Ipswich Town and Leicester City are on course to be the worst bottom three in Premier League history. After coming up last season, they spent a combined £278m and yet they all seem likely to go straight back down. So is promotion becoming increasingly futile? ✍️ Stuart James

Liverpool's title procession starts now

If Arsenal had won yesterday and Liverpool dropped points today, remarkably the title would have been in our own hands. But every time Liverpool have dropped points Arsenal have failed to take advantage. Liverpool were nine points ahead after 11 matches. Liverpool have drawn six of their last 13.

It’s all well and good to be winning games in the chasing pack when the pressure is off. But I’ve noticed a trend with Arsenal - when it’s time to apply REAL pressure and close gaps, they fumble.

They got rid of the ‘viruses’ and those who are ‘bad for the dressing room’ and nothing has changed. Clearly a much deeper issue 😬

Leicester, wow. This must be it for them now…

UEFA promised the big teams and the big games. Perhaps they have come *too* early in the competition but it does blow the competition wide open. Follow @TheAthleticFC live blog for all of the reaction: www.nytimes.com/athletic/liv...

So Atalanta’s designated penalty taker bottled it and asked Lookman to take the penalty. And has then remained quiet when Lookman takes the flak 😂. Incredible.

Lightening Struijks twice, etc

Ancelotti & Bellingham were quick with the misdirection on Saturday & lots in Spanish media followed their argument. But whether 'F you' is worse than 'F off' is really not the point. And this far from first time Bellingham's been in similar bother... www.nytimes.com/athletic/614...

lol imagine if Myles Lewis-Skelly had made a tik tok after the Man City game? I think everyone would have gone into meltdown. Okay for others to do, though. The double standards are actually insane

Ah, guessing cheeky celebrations are okay again. Fair enough

I found it odd that Newcastle were getting in on the ‘humble’ joke the other week when it was nothing to do with them. And, well… they have been humbled themselves this afternoon.

WHAT a touch, Mitoma. Wow

It’s all well making jibes and making excuses about fouls but 98th minute and the ball has been allowed to bounce in the area from a looped cross. It’s a poor goal to concede.

What an ending 👏

Behind the scenes at Exeter City. A great insight into the coaching methods, analysis, data and much more. Some pre-match reading - www.nytimes.com/athletic/544... #ECFC #NFFC #Throwback

Tonight, it is Exeter’s turn in the limelight. How does a club - in a tricky location, fan-owned and with limited resources - get so much so right, so often? ✅Academy ✅Recruitment ✅Culture + engagement ✅Standards #ECFC #FACup #NFFC www.nytimes.com/athletic/612...

Location used to be such an issue for Exeter that they got rid of all of their scouts. But #ECFC in 2025 is very different. "Others have financial clout but we've got evidence of providing opportunities. Players know it's a good place to further their careers." www.nytimes.com/athletic/612...

Plymouth Argyle’s reward for beating Liverpool is…. Manchester City away! #PAFC #MCFC www.nytimes.com/athletic/612...

OK, it’s decided: João Félix is the hill I am willing to die on. He’s a great player and youse are all idiots www.nytimes.com/athletic/612...

Devon has been thrust into the spotlight. Plymouth shocked all by beating Liverpool and, on Tuesday, Exeter host Forest. For some, it’s a footballing wilderness. But dig deeper and you’ll find a hotbed of talent + clubs driving growth in their own unique ways. www.nytimes.com/athletic/612...

Home Park is bouncing. People are crying in the stands! Plymouth Argyle have beaten Liverpool!

GGOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Plymouth 1-0 Liverpool Ryan Hardie from the spot

PENALTY PLYMOUTH!

City keeping it in the corner. Nasty work

Was impressed with Garnacho today. Is him being an impact sub his best role for the team at the moment?

Can’t wait for the agenda over the next five days to be: “Should they have implemented VAR?” 😂

Channing Tatum has become the latest Hollywood star to link up with Wrexham, appearing in a viral ad that will air during the Super Bowl. He chats to @rsooty73.bsky.social about visiting Wales, teaching Wrexham players to dance, & why he wants to return to the Racecourse.

Plymouth already beating a Merseyside club in the FA Cup this week. A good omen? #PAFC

People are sneering at this bdw. Fair enough

There were some United fans who were sneering at Rashford joining Villa. They have bigger issues at home (literally - 7 defeats at OT this season).

Nottingham Forest: A week in Dubai before a trip to beautiful Devon to face Exeter. Not bad, not bad www.nytimes.com/athletic/610...

Marcus Rashford’s most productive season came with an effective LB behind him. Then it was Luke Shaw. At Villa he will have Lucas Digne - not many better around than him. That + a good structure + a well coached side under Emery; no reason why he can’t thrive for Villa in EPL/UCL
