A painter friend posted in frustration about what is happening in Washington... "I'm just going to paint". Let's not "just" paint. Let's paint and make art like it is the shining light leading us forward. Its going to get dark out there. Shown: Agnes Martin. She waited 20 years for her inspiration.

This is a look back to an 11" x 14" painting from 2019 which I'm not sure what ever happened to it. I like its loose feel and is what I want more of my paintings to feel like. Different directions in the work over the years are like waves that keep coming to shore.

I'm taking a short break from winter in South Carolina, the home of birds, salt marshes, 19 native tribes, and the Gullah, deep descendants of slaves. It's also the home of Nancy Mace and Lindsey Graham who certainly don't add to the beauty of the area. New blog post. richardkooyman.com/news.html

Really enjoying the “Lists” function. Make as many lists or feeds as you want: artist, friends, Galleries, politics, and then plug the different accounts in the appropriate list. This way you click on a list and only see those accounts you’ve added.

If you missed it earlier this month I went live with a special series of Fall Paintings on my website, which you can read about here.. richardkooyman.com/section/5356... Shown: Swamp Along Frederick Rd. 18" x 24" oil on canvas, handmade frame, 2025

I've been snow-blowing and shoveling, it is my winter exercise. Tal R said he used to wear himself out by putting paint over and over on the canvas so he would be ready to see what the painting was really about. I wore myself out and then this one happened. New painting. 10" x 8" oil 2025

Here is a starter pack of working visual artists that I've connected with on bS so far. Let me know if you want to be added or add the pack to who you follow to help build an artist community. go.bsky.app/eVJ8id

Loving how blsky lets you control your feed. Two types of feeds 'Discover' is stuff being thrown at you and 'Following' is just the people you want to see. Sorry but I'm not going to have anyone follow me who is reposting countless memes and CNN stories. I left that Meta BS behind.

On this historically depressing day...a big thank you to all who have dumped Meta and come here.

I just released a small series called 'Fall Paintings' on my website along with a message about how they came to be. Trees In The Field 20" x 24" o/c 2025 richardkooyman.com/section/5356...
