Okay, but isn't this kind of Dr. Nick territory? "I've never done defibrillation before but don't worry, I watched The Pitt ..." Then again, if the next pope is like the one in the movie and all of Trump's cabinet goes Scanners, that might not be so bad.

Last night I had a dream that featured a mashup of Slow Horses and Bram Stoker's Dracula. You can probably guess how the "winds ... Winds ... WIIIIIIIIIIIIIINDS" scene went.

I am so pleased to be writing for Law.com again! www.law.com/2025/05/02/j...

what is a perfect album that you think all the songs are good?

Squeeze. Chappell Roan. The Avett Brothers. BinderSuze.

So I'm reading this book about the end of the world (like you do when you're trying to relax) called "Everything Must Go: The Stories We Tell About the End of the World" and the author says this about the Book of Revelation:

MARCONI EATS THE

I caught the tail end of a Luther Vandross documentary Stacy was watching the other night, and I realized that I really didn't know very much about him or his work. I knew "Here and Now," "Power of Love," "Dance with My Father," "Never Too Much," "If Only For One Night" ...

So I just attempted to text, "Your own best intentions are no match for someone else's fuckups." This got autocorrected to "Your own best intentions are no match for someone else's cyclops." This has been Today in Both Are True, Actually.

Last night I dreamt of a fiber supplement marketed by Gene Simmons with an ad that featured, no doubt to Paul Stanley's chagrin as well as my own, a rewrite of Lick It Up called Leaky Gut. And happy Unfortunate Earworm Day to you, too.

Niche humor. Or Nietzsche humor.

It's the Kiss/RAYE/Ozzy Osbourne/Justin Timberlake/Alison Moyet/Lisa Lisa/Godley & Creme mashup you never knew you needed! youtu.be/A2OH1fanB1E?...

"I'm your laptop now, sunshine."

"... never mind."

Reading @juddlegum.bsky.social's report about John Amanchukwu and Reuters on how TFG is planning on revoking temporary legal status for 240K Ukrainians who fled the war ... and Sentient Shuffle, ever the reflection of my rage at this administration, throws me this. youtu.be/zFvl3Pj0cic?...

TL;DR: "Please clap."

February was all about rediscovering Kendrick, mourning Marianne, and drowning sorrows with Bonnie Prince Billy and Stritch. How about you?

This is how the world ends, not with a bang but with great television, I can tell you that.

So I was thinking today, as one does, "what's Van Hunt been up to?" And what an answer I got: I stumbled upon an album of his called "gram," which is made up of all these barely-a-minute-long tracks he put together to pay tribute to the various places he was playing on his last tour. 1/x

So we're watching the second-ever episode of Law & Order from 1990, which stars Cynthia Nixon as the perp. At one point she's brought into the station in handcuffs. One of the detectives: "Has she been Mirandized?" Me: "Not for another eight years." This has been Today in Desperate for a Laugh.

The boss decided I'd done enough for the day.

The usual suspects indulging in racist trolling, intellectual laziness and self-congratulatory incuriosity in response to a pretty brilliant halftime show just tells me Kendrick is the right guy at the right time.

Any agency giving out a billion dollars worth of stollen is all right by me.

How the year's been going so far. You?

These are the tracks in heaviest rotation these days in the Binder house. What about you?

It's a good list, but I would've happily jettisoned one of the Dylans to make room for Chumbawamba's "On the Day the Nazi Died" -- which has the distinct advantage of being shorter than any Dylan, anyway. www.rollingstone.com/music/music-...

In January 2023 my constant soundtrack was Dead Meat by The Tubs and Late Developers by Belle and Sebastian. This year at this time? In Love Again by Ex-Vöid and Looking Back at the World by The Gentle Spring. Iterations, man. Also, I guess I really want 2023 back.
