OMG! (Just finished re-reading System Collapse.)

We’ve been living on borrowed time since Citizens United.

I don’t know how this works over here but I thought I’d share some of my work.

When I took a polysci class in college, the prof told us that the purpose of a political party is to capture the government so it could make policy. Trump was supposed to make American great again. Are we there yet? Because I’m mostly embarrassed. 1/

I mean … what the actual fuck? www.ap.org/the-definiti...

This is what happens when you don’t know how shit works. Or care how it works.

The future we wanted vs the future it looks like we’re gonna get.

I deleted Twitter. Has anyone over here compiled a good #startrek starter pack? @thescorch.bsky.social @seanferrick.bsky.social @holodeckfour.bsky.social #LLAP 🖖🏻

Numbers don’t lie — and neither does a budget estimate. School choice? No. According to an estimate from the Texas Legislative Budget Board, 95% of students who would take ESAs/vouchers are already in private schools or being homeschooled. #TXLege #TxED

Snickers in Apple IIe

This is how liberty ends …

Looks like whisky’s gonna get more expensive, folks! #whiskytradewar

One follows the other.

I really don’t think it’s happenstance that pretty much every remaining institutional safeguard broke down within 15 years of Citizens United

Duh.

Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #640,774! Elder Certified? Yikes!

So, I wrote a thing.

Journalism is a *learned skillset*. The industry isn't just dying it's completely eliminating knowledge and abilities that took people decades to perfect. No matter what you think of "the media" without those skills you couldn't just wake up tomorrow and write an article worth reading.

This plate of jamon Imberico cost me $2,378 at a sidewalk cafe in Barcelona and that’s why Americans think the economy is terrible. Thanks, Joe.

This is as good an explanation as any.

This makes me giddy!

I'm mostly retired so I don't have a real job anymore, just a series of one-off contracts and side gigs. I have to check my calendar to know what day it is. Apparently, some retired folks become un-moored from linear time. Me. I'm a retired folk.

His makes a great deal of sense. Adrian may have thoughts …

Thanks, @thescorch.bsky.social!
