Sunrise over the heath, Wise's trail Royal National Park.

looking out from the end of Karani Ridgetop to the hills above the other side of the Hacking River in Royal National Park. There's evidence here of aboriginal occupation like boulders with axe grinding grooves, etc.. Karani Brook runs into the valley on the right and Palona Brook on the left.

I found some Koala tracks along around 200 metres of a trail in the centre of Royal National Park yesterday. They're quite rare in that location. These images show the back foot stepping into the front foot print which they do when moving a little quicker. #mammals #nature

They returned Bob Katter . . . what a bunch of bumpkins they are . . . SMH

If you're a grad student or an undergrad interested in research I need to you listen to me very carefully. You cannot learn to write good research papers if you do not read good research papers. Stop asking LLMs to summarize papers for you.

Answering the call for raptors . . . Here's an Australian Kestrel at Boat Harbour on the Kurnell Peninsula near Sydney Australia. #birds

Yesterday, the people of Australia said what the whole world is thinking, "We don't want extremists or christofascists in power and we don't want culture wars over indigenous people or LGBTQ+ people. We must get to work on resolving Climate Change and building peace and greater equity in the world."

My latest poster, the Large-billed Scrubwren. The plainest bird in any forest! The ecology and biogeography of this species and the entire Magnirostra clade is fascinating. I'm going to do more work on this on substack in due course. #birds #birding #nature

One of several beautiful male Superb Lyrebirds which I encountered in the rainforest yesterday . . . I also had amazing encounters with Yellow-throated Scrubwrens having a territorial squabble using call and response mimicry! They have a better repertoire than the lyrebirds! #birds #birding #nature

I climbed high up a rainforest hill yesterday in search of a pair of Australian Logrunners after finding their foraging platelets in the leaf litter near one of their primary nesting locations. These are difficult birds in Royal NP. The search was fruitless but the location was ample reward! #birds

The Middle Arm petrochemical hub is to be built with $1.5B taxpayer money & allow more of NT to be fracked - damaging our climate, devastating local species & ppl's health This climate vandalism + Nature destruction must be stopped & govt $ withdrawn www.theguardian.com/environment/...

A sure way to get unfollowed is to rapid fire repost more than 30 posts from accounts I don't follow. I'd like to see more posts from accounts which I follow here thanks.

I've also updated my Yellow-throated Scrubwren poster for the Australo-Papuan fairy-wrens and scrubwrens collection, many of which will soon be available on my website. #nature #birds #birding #WildOz
