“It’s what President Trump has asked for." Republicans are gearing up to adopt a budget that would statutorily increase the debt. But they say that’s fine as long as it’s for tax cuts.

“The people who represent the nation that has committed these war crimes are sitting across the table from Rubio with the hope of relief from devastating sanctions and an end to a conflict they started, all the while continuing to inflict suffering on Ukraine.” www.thebulwark.com/p/we-are-neg...

Kamala was right. And it only took him less than 30 days to roll over for Putin.

So many threads to pull here; the atrocious grasp of history & geopolitik, the glib lie about how the war in Ukraine began, the disgraceful abandonment of European allies. But it’s the alignment with the war criminal Putin, no friend of ours, that sticks out. What won’t Trump do to harm us?

"Still there is a substantial minority party. They’re called the Democratic party. Remember them? Is it too much to ask that they at least sound the alarm? Loudly and clearly and repeatedly? They could start today. With the IRS." www.thebulwark.com/p/breaking-t...

"The problem isn’t that Trump doesn’t understand that he’s laying the groundwork for Ukraine to lose. He doesn’t care if Ukraine loses. The problem isn’t that Trump doesn’t understand he’s giving a massive victory to Putin. He's on Putin’s side." www.thebulwark.com/p/a-valentin...

1/So, the guy who is supposedly fighting waste & corruption in government just got a $400 mil contract with that same government he’s supposedly overseeing for his trucks that get, let’s just say less than stellar reviews www.nytimes.com/2025/02/12/u...

Trump’s DOJ is openly wielding prosecutorial power for political deals. Eric Adams gets his case dropped, and in return, he backs Trump’s immigration agenda. Don't worry...DOJ is keeping the case in its back pocket, ready to revive if Adams steps out of line. New from Mimi Rocah & Jennifer Rodgers.

How much Elon Musk makes from the government a day: $8 million. How much a senior on Social Security gets a day: $65 Guess which budget Musk and Trump want to cut?

If you’re wondering if you’re in a constitutional crisis and that the republic could collapse at any moment, you are.

Vance:judges have no jurisdiction over “Trumps power” “The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive & judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elected, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.” - James Madison

"There are moments in the world’s history where people look back and ask, 'Where were the lawyers? Where were the judges?' In these moments, the rule of law becomes especially vulnerable," said the judge. Applause broke out in his courtroom. www.yahoo.com/news/trump-p...

This is just the beginning…

"Pam Bondi is the first attorney general in history to have been a lobbyist for foreign governments. She also just disbanded the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force..." www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

Losing NOAA would be devastating. Project 2025 authors want to get rid of it because it monitors climate change, and privatize the information it currently provides for free, so you'll have to buy information about the weather and the winds (imperative for mariners).

A Republican congressman just introduced a bill to abolish OSHA and get rid of federal safety protections for workers. Remind me— wasn’t it Republicans who claimed that they were the party of the working class?

Attention Press, Attention Journalism, Attention News Media: RFK Jr's views are not "controversial." They are WRONG. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. He's wrong. The word you're looking for is WRONG. RFK Jr is wrong. He's wrong about everything. 1/

Remember those goons from grade school? The ignorant bullies, all fists and insults, who never paid attention or passed a test but somehow managed to get advanced because they were on the football team or their dad was rich? Congratulations, America, you put those meatheads in charge.

Setting artificial targets for immigration arrests doesn't make our communities safer. It forces law enforcement to divert resources from serious violent crime, white collar crime, drug trafficking & civil rights crimes to go after non-violent immigration offenses. Bad motives & bad priorities.

Republican members of Congress found the incident of Christ Actually Preached so irksome that they are demanding (I kid you not) congressional action. (See footnote in newsletter.) charliesykes.substack.com/p/some-sunda...

It's damn telling how fast corporate America quit diversity. Seems like those marginalized people who've been telling us about racism, sexism, bigotry, bias, and exclusion might have been right all along.

While he's at it, maybe he could sign an executive order to open up the pumps and valves in Saudi Arabia and get that sweet crude oil flowing to our refineries so gas is .10c at the pump? Oh, hey, I know, he could sign an EO to get them chickens laying again! Free eggs for everyone!

There's a reason why you never, ever, see "feed the hungry, clothe the poor, heal the sick" or any other words attributed to Jesus on those signs in front of the churches. Republican Jesus ain't got time for empathy.

I've been saying this since the last election...because it was our last election.

Someone nailed it with this post.

"Trump must have hoped, even if [the blanket pardons were] unpopular, that the issue would go away soon...But with people like Kash Patel up for confirmation, the pardons can and will remain front and center. Attention to the pardons isn’t going away." www.thebulwark.com/p/hang-the-j...

This is exactly where we are headed.

No surprise here.

Here's a hypothetical question based on the pardons that Trump continues to issue. What would happen if someone assassinated a Democratic member of Congress or a "liberal" member of the Supreme Court? 1/4

Excellent advise.

This puritanical pixie thinks Jesus's Sermon on the Mount was radical ideology. "Blessed are the merciful." Matthew 5:7 Christian Nationalists are the least likely Americans to pay attention to Jesus. Even atheists are more likely to follow his teachings, if only inadvertently.

Merrick Garland is not to blame for Trump’s return to power. The blame belongs with Mitch McConnell and SCOTUS for failing to serve as a check on abuse of power. My thoughts in The Contrarian.

I suppose we should have.

I don’t think America has really let it sink in “how America as you knew it is gone”.

Yup. Family too.
