ICYMI at the weekend...

I have five copies of @florenceknapp.bsky.social's The Names to be won over in the ROSBC if you're interested... www.facebook.com/groups/theri...

I turn 52 tomorrow. It's a kind of "meh" age that nobody cares about, so Liz took me to London to see some shows 😎

Things I learned today: Die Hard is based on a 1979 sequel novel to a book made into a film in which Frank Sinatra plays the main character. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nothing...

I would *love* to do this @irishtimes.com Q&A, I would not be as interesting or as entertaining as @ronanhession.bsky.social... www.irishtimes.com/life-style/p...

The only acceptable thing to do with the Met Gala nonsense in the world of 2025.

Ahoy hoy. Continuing to disctract you from the deep, dark hole in your soul with popular music! Go. www.rte.ie/radio/gold/d...

Always nice to talk to one of your actual mates, even better when his choices surprise you... Read my Shelf Analysis with @daveruddenwrites.bsky.social in Saturday's Review section of the @independent.ie or at m.independent.ie/entertainmen...

I can't quite comprehend how this is *seven* years ago...

You need to read this: "We’re not asking for tea rooms. We’re asking for heating. For toilets that work. For benches to sit on. For parks that are maintained. For buildings that don’t shame the services operating inside them. This is not a wish list. It’s the bare minimum any city should provide."

My friend @themcquade.bsky.social is walking the Camino this June for Children in Crossfire, who help some of the most vulnerable children in the world who suffer from the injustices of poverty. Every fiver helps... www.justgiving.com/page/aidan-m...

So yeah, Thunderbolts* is great. Easily the best Marvel film in an age. Funny, sharp, nicely crunchy action, really solid performances, but this is Florence Pugh's show... The final third is one of the smartest I've seen in a film like this in an age. Two post credit sequences. Be warned 😎

Yup. Bought more books when I accidentally fell into a bookshop...

We're delighted to announce a new literary award in collaboration between @irishwriterscentre.bsky.social and The @stingingfly.bsky.social 🎉 The aim of the prize is to discover, promote and encourage the talents of new, undiscovered voices in Irish writing. irishwriterscentre.ie/announcing-t...

This. Thanks. It's rage bait.

I have locked myself in a dark box in a basement for this glorious afternoon for your entertainment. Least you can do is join me... www.rte.ie/radio/gold/daytime-gold-with-rick-oshea/

You need to read this, particularly the bit where the Antipope believes he holds the Kingship of...............? Ireland. Wild.

Can anyone suggest contemporary Irish stories/books with ghosts? Cheers

I mean you'd rather the evil billionaires weren't the ones to bring him down, but any port in a storm...

"now son do you know why i pulled you over tonight?" "no officer, what seems to be the trouble?" "well it's just a routine checkpoint son, i'm going to have to ask you a few questions. first off, in herman melville's moby-dick what is the white whale an allegory for?"

On @rtegold.bsky.social until 4 so this will be a doddle... Listen live - gold.rte.ie

A lot of organisations there need to think long and hard about this. You wouldn't have an account on Truth Social, so why do you still have one there?
