02/09/2025 at BBSP. This Broadbanded Water Snake was struggling,but hadn't captured prey.Its teeth were caught on a plant stalk! It changed grip & pulled free! 01/24/25;At Fiorenza Park;Coots were scavenging dead fish killed by the freeze. For years,I'd thought Coots were herbivores,so was surprised to see them scavenging. 01/05/25 At BBSP, empty Apple Snail shell at West end of Pilant Lake. It was a fresh. 3 components left in a tight arrangement: Pink, toxic "albumen gland"; the operculum & the shell. Raccoons and Limpkins eat these, and both live in the park. Apple Snail page: www.rickubis.com/rick/pomacea... 🧪🐌
