Took years for the "smart" people to recognize conditions that any historian saw long time ago. The effort to create a 2nd Gilded Age began with Reagan and creating the trend of shifting govt resources from the vast public to a small, small minority. Making the US govt serve them, not the public.

The mule team relief organization, which I believe started after NC storm disaster is in McDowell County at Panther Creek, whose road has completely washed away. Welch, Ieager, Panther all received a great deal of damage.

Agree Democratic "messaging" is the problem. Because we shouldn't be *messaging". That is consultant speak. Democrats should be loudly advocating for Core Democratic and American Values, not messaging to slices of the electorate. I would suggest FDR's 4 Freedoms are a starting point for Democrats.

Good thread about issues we have discussed for yrs. DNC abandoning all those states and the 50 State strategy was a huge mistake which the country is now paying for. One point that has to be addresses. Old/Ineffective state Democratic Party leadership. Used to and comfortable losing Replace them.

Over on the other place, more footage along Tug. Williamson closed its flood walls. Says nearly inaccessible. Rt 119 is a 4 lane that runs along ridgelines and old mountain top mines to Williamson. I can't remember any section along river or near a creek for a wash out except when you get into town
